Nice work Matt. Tough terrain! You should look into riding the BRAN ride in Nebraska or the Ride the Rockies in Colorado. Those will kick your ass too, but they come with a sag wagon and food! Your shots were really beautiful.

I really was impressed with the camera work in this pod. The videographer really positioned himself well to create a visually attractive and attention getting piece. However, I think the pod really needs to address how it's current; I understand that this is an extremely difficult hill to bike up (made even more so with just a one speed), but I don't really get a sense of the point. Even with the explanation about why the documentary is being made at the beginning I'm still left questioning what I should be paying attention to. If it's about biking and how it has a huge mental component, that should be explaining throughout the piece, not just at the end. Right now it seems a little to narrowly focused, but if it can say something a little bit more about biking as a whole or why this is something the general public should know about, I think you've got a solid pod on your hands.

Good camera work (biking in and out of frame, variety of perspectives, good variety of wide, medium, and close shots, and they were all steady. You clearly used a tri or monopod on most of your shots. This pod could have been tightened up A LOT, though. I understood after the first couple of sound bites that the guy hates the hills and that he didn't train for the trip. Also, the bites that were selected should have been quicker. One of the reasons it dragged is because the scenes and bites are too long. Also, what's the story here? If it's the trip then that narrative arc needs to develop more. Show me the prep and the finish, not just the in between. Good footage to work with, just wish there was something more there, story-wise.

Great work. Loved the shots. Really funny!

while the shots were nice, the voice over should have been a lot tighter (maybe written out and read) because the uhs and ums where really distracting and totally pulled me out of the story - and i agree that it is too long and there needs to be more story here - good beginning!

'that shit was real close'

buns of steel, wow. -
Yes, hills suck almost as much as motorists.
Well put, bikers have great mental strength.
