So, is it cute? Is it really funny?
Thoughts or opinions?
Note: I really recommend you read the comments. Interesting thoughts in there....
I agree with what Nauseated posted.
Honestly, I'm disgusted. What a waste...this angered me very much when I saw it. What a disgrace to feminism. I'm pro choice, and I think this is just ridiculous.
Please, fire it up in here! Post anything you're feeling!

HAHA! That's so funny. Whether or not the dude got the tattoo to voice his personal opinion its still stupid. I’d like my 5 year old nephew to tattoo a depiction of me laughing my ass off. Then I can post it on Current and deny the reasoning behind it. Way to make point laimo.
-
Hmm... I bet she responds to people's criticisms of the tattoo with, "Hey it's my body, I can do what I want." Zing!
-
I don’t know if I should call you stupid or say you have bad taste? What are you saying, abortion is bad or the freedom to tattoo yourself is good? In any event you should get a tattoo of the definition of what a zinger is. Don’t get up I’ll post it below for you.

I think this is funny, but this pales in comparison to the edginess of the Yale abortion artist hoax.

personally, i don't care about this "pro-life" business -- if i have an unwanted fetus in me, i'm going to get rid of it because that's a basic human right. i find this tattoo creepy but i'm sure the wearer gets a kick out of it every time they look in the mirror, so whatever floats their boat is okay with me. it's their body, after all.
-
While I dont disagree that she can do whatever she wants with her body. This is disgusting. But maybe she was trying to make a valid statement. Maybe she was trying to say that too often people make light the idea of abortion. Perhaps this was a rebuttle to the Yale students art. That people have abortions and then believe that it has no effect on the unborn child. Perhaps this says to her that abortion is not okay and is not glamorous but rather horriffic for the child. It all depends on how you look at it. Someone should follow up with her and see what was her reasoning

That's in pretty amazingly poor taste. I wonder how proud she'll be of it when the irony factor dies off.
-
I try not to pass judgments on people's choice of ink, but whenever I see a piece that is clearly done without the thought of the permanence of the art it bugs me. Yes, they have a right to feel how they want about abortion, or any other topic, and yes it is their body to do with what they want, however, they shouldn't act shocked or upset when people respond negatively to it.
I personally think this is a foul joke that somebody took over the edge, but any anger is subsided by the thought of them being 80 and trying to explain it to their grandkids.-

I don't know, maybe you shouldn't jump to conclusions. If the lady said it has nothing to do with abortions she either 1. Changed her mind 2. It has nothing to do with abortions.
People shouldn't get so riled up about something that has nothing to do with them. If it is not your own body being affected by someone else it really is none of your business.
-
aharvath--
For me it doesn't matter whether it's about abortion...it's still a friggin' unicorn stomping on and killing babies, complete with baby parts strewn around AND one impaled on its horn. She probably thought 'oh this will be like SO funny and a total flip on the typical girlie tattoo...people will see rainbow unicorns and then when they see it up close they'll be horrified! Awesome!' but seriously...how long will that be funny and a statement on what women are expected to put on their bodies? Not long.
Also...just because we're talking about it doesn't mean we're riled up. And if this woman posted about it on a public blog...that opens it up to public discussion; she's making it our business. Why else would she have posted it if she didn't want people to know about it--and considering the subject, discuss it?
-
This is pretty cruel. I'm familiar with artists of this mindset, though, and despite their love for gore and the cute characters it emits from, their art always makes a statement.

While I wouldn't get the tattoo myself I acknowledge that she has the right to do with her body what she chooses. I'm not sure what the debate is. Would I get it, no, but that doesn't mean she can't.
-
the problem is typically that the people who push for equality, and equal rights with the COEXIST sticker plastered to their car and usually the first to jump right on anyone else's point of view and tell them that their way is wrong.
accept that this is the womans point of view, their is nothing ignorant, wrong, or disgusting about it, its her view and nothing more. she is no more ignorant for being against abortion than your are for being for abortion.

I never thought that anyone was saying what she did or did not have a right to do...for me it's an accepted fact that she can do whatever she wishes with/to her body.
Doesn't mean I can't make fun of it.
-
this is symptomatic of our 'hey, look at me' culture.
btw, hey...look at me!

Lisa Frank must be pissed!
That is not the way they would want their images used! -
What I am wondering is why anyone, whether it is a man or female, would want such a vulgar tattoo that looks so positive.
A happy unicorn, cute colors...and then murdered babies littering the ground?
Skulls with knives in them...that's tolerable.
But this? This is just unethical to do to your own body.Mom and Dad must have been proud when they saw that :]

she should have had a My Little Pony surgically implanted in her uterus instead...

ONLY PRO-LIFERS WOULD GET OFFENDED BY THAT although I think its stupid to put on your arm but to each their own.
-
aharvath--
Don't start making big ridiculous pronouncements like that in all caps--plenty of pro-choice folks could be offended by that and already are.
Talk about wanting people to get riled...your statement is only meant to get people mad. Let's stay above making blanket statements about people based on absolutely nothing, ok?
-
Ok all I see is negative comments. I personally think this piece speaks for itself. Abortion is a huge issue some people believe it's ok to go out and have unprotected sex and if worse comes to worse they'll just have an abortion. This is not the case at all. This says very plainly that abortion is not a decision to take lightly in any way. I think shes lying about her reasoning for getting it and I also think she is weak for doing so.

This is art. We all read art differently. I did not at all connect this with abortion initially. I can see where you would come up with that but I read it differently.
I associated the rainbow colors with homosexuality. Abortion is not generally a homosexual issue. And those are Kew-pie dolls, not babies. I certainly didn't take it a seriously as others here did.
But that's just me.
Here's what the tattoo-y had to say:
Callie said:
Sorry I offended. The tattoo really doesn't have anything to do with abortions. That's not how abortions happen, silly. The idea of a metal baby riding on a unicorn and trampling other babies came to me in a dream. The unicorn is Markie from Lisa Frank, the babies are Kew-pie dolls and metal baby is throwing the goat! How is that not amazing. What can I say, I don't really like babies. Unless of course, the baby is metal enough to ride a unicorn. Then he's probably not so bad cause you know there is no crying in metal. Someone made a comment about it looking like a magical abortion and that is where the blog title came from.

Yeah dito to PoliticalGeek's post.
It is people's perception of the art that is making it a negative thing.Personally, I found it to be f-ing hilarious.
Don't know why she wanted it on her body for the rest of her life, but whatever. It's her skin.
