Jay Reatard introduces the Daily Fix to one of his favorite bands The Barbaras.

In addition to The Barbaras, Jay mentions another fave - Cheap Time. They are a little more upbeat than The Barbaras, in my opinion. Not at all better, just different. Check out their myspace as well.

Jay Reatard punches a drunk concert goer in the face... after getting a beer pitcher thrown at him, the kid spilling beer on his gear and the promoter letting way too many people into the club.

I find this interesting because well, I'm from Memphis. That's basically it.

I am now "officially" sold on Current TV. Memphis is the birthplace of Rock and Roll and a lot of the best genuine rock and roll still lies there in the bluff city hidden behind rickety porches and bbq grills. So many Memphis bands never get there due... and its almost better that way.
Everyone should still go out and buy Blood Visions though.
Kudos to whoever invited Jar Reatard on. This guy is what Rock and Roll is all about.
His old band is pretty stellar as well

Other notable Memphis rock bands... (I'm a few years out of the scene)

I just got back from Nashville, and for sure I got the sense that it was an industry-heavy town. Nice to hear a bit about the Memphis scene, as an antidote to that.

Oh yeah, Memphis is great, just be sure to wear your bullet proof vest when you go.
