God, I always act like a dork in front the camera. Thankfully an awesome production job saved it!
"it's gonna be harder for him [to not sign this bill] than it's gonna be for us to get it to his desk"
This was political rhetoric, not meant literally (the Senate wasted no time in killing our bill) but it's actually true in a lot of ways...
1) The Governor has kids who are also in college. It's difficult for a parent to defend something that they know is hurting other people's kids, understanding the reality of the situation.
2) While issues like this are a political "hot potato" in an election year, it's not fun knowing that you will likely be reversing your position in a year or two, as we found out that the majority of the public was in favor of this.
3) The Senator who was tasked with killing our bill (by the Governor) gave us props after it was over and was grateful that we were able to move the discussion forward finally.
