AL GORE wants to make a sequel to his Oscar-winning documentary on global warming – and despite Earth’s “rising fever” he is still hopeful for a happy ending.
We are, he says, all players in deciding the outcome.
Despite the success of his film An Inconvenient Truth and last year’s Live Earth concerts in raising awareness, the former US Vice President believes little has changed where it counts and the situation is even more urgent.
And he warns that while individual efforts such as changing to low-energy lightbulbs are important, it is more significant for world leaders to change laws to stop pollution pouring into the atmosphere and affecting the climate.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Mr Gore – hailed as the world’s leading green campaigner – said recent polls had found that while people rate climate change as a “serious problem”, some ranked it lower than clearing up dog mess.
“When politicians walk down the pavement, four or five of every ten people they meet ask, ‘What are you doing to solve the climate crisis?’ he said. “If you ask people their opinion, more than two thirds will say, ‘It’s a very serious issue, we’re responsible for it. We need to take action’.
“But then if you give them a list of 25 or 30 issues and ask them to rank them in order of seriousness, climate change comes at the bottom or near the bottom.
“I remember one poll where it came under dog litter. People are more likely to respond to problems that can be felt – terrorism, traffic jams, anything that activates the responses in an immediate way.
“We think, ‘If it’s never happened before maybe it won’t ever happen in the future’. That’s a rule that can work but the exceptions can kill you. And global warming is one of the exceptions.”

They must not only change though for the sake of change. They must be effective and enforced. And it can't take another ten years to get there. By then the ice in the Arctic will be melted and the Gulf Stream will have slowed down another 30%. This planet is not going to wait for politicians to get their act together based on their own aspirations in an election year.

Being bi-lingual has opened an opportunity to talk and listen to different cultures. Thanks to current.com, I have a connection with people that share similar beliefs.
And now, time moves fast and connecting with people in our society is very difficult because of the "matrix" system of work. I know a lot of people that don't have time to do anything physical because they are always working.
Reality has many subsidiaries and one of them is physical, the human touch/feel. People talk and have theories but don't unite in groups to talk. This is because the system of life we live in.
The mafia got stronger when they got involve in work unions. I'm amazed of what the construction worker can do at his job and what he thinks. Muscle with no understanding on what they are doing. The labor union has lots of power in this world. They are an important asset to the environmentalist if they had the time to listen and understand. -
Well, with the Internet it is much easier if you have access to it to contact those in the posiiton to make the laws and demand they do what is right for this planet. They can no longer be allowed to make excuses.

Just a general question: What do you all think of Mr. Gore making a sequel to An Inconvenient Truth? I think it is a great idea and I hope it focuses on the many innovations coming to light regarding sustainable investments and technologies and encompasses the stories of real people making a difference. That too may work to apply more pressure to those in government who are still dragging their feet on this even though they talk about it.

Good things I have done to help stop global warming:
1. Went Vegan few months ago..lots of fun, healthy and and effective way to cut green house gases drastically (I suggest you read Skinny Bitch as reference)
2. walk and bike much more
3. recycle more
4. try to cut down on heat by dressing warmly in our house in Maine and using blankets
5. Trying to think of ways to spread the good word of Veganism and plan to attend a Vegan Meetup in Maine
6. Trying to spread the word about heated clothing for places such as college campuses. I think this is a great idea and not utilized much
7. trying to promote a unique web site that is like a free eBay for environmental charities
8. planning to start a garden this year to grow our own veggies and maybe even sell them to neighbors to earn some money-

If there is a pain then you cure it as soon as possible otherwise you cannot perform 100%..so it should be in the world ..Direct positive action not extended dialogue like in israel iraq africa e.t.c.If something is worth doing do it now make it important..if your work is more important to you than trying to find ways to be more decisive about things in your life..that is your choice..but remember that everything in the world is in a state of..growing or dying..take some time out make impotant things important and do the work along the way...The great doers in the world don't talk about it..they get up and do it first then maybe explain it later..

Wasting energy is one thing that I consider not doing again. Doing something with the right group is important because if not, it looks like running around like a chicken without a head. Wasting energy.
"One shoot, One kill" represents doing something once and doing it right. Groups of people need to agree on a vision, not just work with no goal.
Communication with the right people and not just given negative energy.
