The U.S. military said on Monday it had killed 38 fighters in a day of battles in northeastern Baghdad as militants took advantage of dust storms to launch apparently coordinated assaults.
The attacks, which appeared to be some of the biggest clashes in weeks, showed that some fighters have defied an order by anti-American Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr to observe a ceasefire."

If Moqtada al-Sadr no longer holds sway over his militias, that is a worrying development for sure. Although perhaps not entirely reliable or friendly to the US, al-Sadr was at least a known factor and someone with whom the US could negotiate. If these armed factions break off and are no longer following one lead, it will become infinitely more difficult for the US to achieve or maintain any sort of calm.

These are the stories that we don't hear very often on the national media. I believe that problem is not that public opinion about the war went bad and the media followed in step. I think the media TURNED the public opinion away from the war. We don't hear that we are winning. We hear how many Americans died or bad things that happened to the citizens.
The government wants to win the war and establish a democracy. The media wants Americans to die and atrocities to happen because that is where they draw their strength.-
