Death Cab has recorded a six song live session for the amazing website, Daytrotter.
The session includes the on-line debut of two songs off of 'Narrow Stairs:' 'Cath' and 'Talking Bird.'
Head on over to Daytrotter right now to hear and download! Also included in the live set are the DCFC staples 'Styrofoam Plates,' 'The New Year,' 'A Movie Script Ending,' and 'Why You'd Want To Live Here.'
Maybe it's just me but it seems and sounds like they have tried too hard on this album to be different. Why couldn't Ben just have spent his time with Jimmy of Dntel, producing another Postal Service CD?

Totally agree, this is a bit of time-wasting and I really hope they DO actually make another album

Every great band eventually puts out a CD no one likes and I think this that CD. Then again, I'm sure newer fans will think this is the best thing in the world but I'm sure they thought Plans was their first album too.

The second I heard the new single I knew that this would be a common response to the album. A lot of Death Cab fans will not understand or like this album because it's so different to 'Plans' and 'Transatlanticism' and lets face it...most people who like the band now have only been fans since those two albums were released. However, people like me who have listened to them from the start and understand the evolution of the band are more open to this record and the different sound it brings. Also, I think that if you read interviews with the band and the essay that Ben wrote for 'Paste' it then becomes easier to understand this album and why it is like it is.
Fans cannot expect them to put out the same music with every recored, a good band is going to constantly evolve and change due to so many different factors.
I think that this is the best record yet. The vocals are more advanced and skillful and the instrumental is just brilliant.
But in reality, nothing we say really matters. They are happy with what they've done...and in the end that's all that matters.-
