"First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.
Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America’s fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent? Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse? We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago”

Our intent is not to put MSNBC out of business but to educate that ethics is not a free for all in USA Media anymore. Their viewers now have a voice and will use it.

    While we are at it let MSNBC CEO Board and Directors know that Direct to Consumer Advertising by Pharmaceutical Companies is shameful, harmful to society and a conflict of interest that is not allowed in other countries.   • i don't know - personally , i find it perverse that black americans should ever feel "saved" by the same judeo-christian god which the enslavers themselves appealed to in justifying and candy coating their actions - Wright prattles on about how great a minister he is , yet he's practicing the same religion the white "slave masters" forced on his ancestors ( and which Pat himself is using for his argument) i don't get it - it's absurd .

  • What is so sad is that he's parroting what his history book taught him in secondary school. A great read is "Lies My Teacher Told Me" by James Loewen http://www.amazon.com/Lies-My-Teacher-Told-Everything/d...
    that shows not only how wrong the books were pre-Civil Rights, but even today how skewed the textbooks in schools are on important issues like Communism, race relations, and more.
    As for Buchanan himself, I feel he's rather marginalized, at least where I live on the West Coast. Kinda like Rush Limbaugh out here. Then again I hear that our own Lars Larsen is pretty big, for a little guy ^_^
    People are gonna believe what they've learned over time; we need to make sure that our generation and the ones to come are properly educated on our history, so people with these ludicrous notions continue to be marginalized. imho ^_^

  • Hmm, let's see considering schools needed to be desegregated at gun point via the National Guard. It took an act of social disobedience just to get a seat on a bus or at a lunch counter and it literally took an act of congress to even attempt to get a job if you are black. I'm going to answer Pat's question with a resounding YESSSSSS! It's ALL White America's fault.

    Look at it this way, what do the indigenous Native Americans, enslaved Africans, Mexicans that once owned California and Texas, Chinese brought over to build railroads, interred Japanese and displaced or dead Iraqi and Afghans all have in common? They've all been "HELPED" by clowns like Pat Buchanan.

  • i honestly dont know what to think b/c part of me says that its white peoples fault and the other says its black peoples fault. but it could be both of our fault. another point to bring up is "is it to late to fix it?" putting them in jail could fix the problem but it doesnt work b/c the mentality is still in the back of their mind. this is a hard topic not b/c im racist but that the facts are so strong that it points to both sides.

  • however selfish it sounds , i thank god for the african diaspora which made rock n' roll ( reggae , jazz , blues , house music etc. ) possible - am i also saying that i thank god that slavery happened ? i guess so - but i'm not gonna loose sleep over it , as i'll be too busy dancing at the club .

    Did anyone really wonder why Reverend Wright is so angry? Pat Buchanan just justified Wright's arguments about everything... Don't know why everyone was so skeptical. We all know that this kind of despicable racism still exists.

    If Pat Buchanan is at all confused about how Jim Crow laws and mass lynchings have affected Black communities in negative ways through the 80s, than he needs to read the Kerner Commission report and wonder why it is that none of their recommendations were heeded to reverse the negative trend of our poor communities.

    Pat Buchanan proves yet again what a bigoted fool he is. The shame.

  • Well, now that I think about it maybe Blues may not have come along as fast. Without the hard labor, discrimination, beating and lynching we (Blacks) probably would have been a tad too happy to invent the Blues. But I'm sure somebody would have eventually.   • well eldamon and 96th , all of the musics in question were unique reactions to the culture of oppression - they would never have come from africa were it not for the circumstances of history which compelled their innovators to express themselves , within the context of having been victims of slavery - sorry . would Marley ever have existed anyhow if no african were taken from africa? i agree with your sentiments , but think a bit more before you take on the role of musicologists .
