i've seen the beach i grew up on turned into gated access million dollar home communities - ocean front real estate where ospreys used to build nests and where the ecosystem was virgin ( sand-dunes to inter-tidal marsh , lagoons , forest succession , leading into mixed deciduous oak / pine forests for miles inland ) and it broke my heart - enough to make me move away - and , of course , surfing was forced out , so i can't even go there and enjoy the place i grew up with - Kelly Slater has always been a person i admired , and he just gets better .

Great cause, respect to Kelly for getting behind the cause... nice to see someone in the public eye use their popularity for good for a change... Wish I could have been at the fundraiser, looked great, loads of guests I'd love to meet; Jeff Clark, Taylor Knox, Eddie Vedder, Kelly Slater...
