Last night on "Countdown," Keith Olbermann tore apart President Bush's speech on the economy, fact-checking each claim and dismantling Bush's case point-by-point. It was reminiscent of this clip from February, where Keith presented a detailed timeline of the Bush administration's political exploitation of the terror threat.

Will never be sure again! Democrats in 08!
-
I just want someone who knows what they're doing.
-
McCain=Same. How's that been working out for us?
Do we really want the rest of the world continuing to think we're a just a vast collective of fools unable to change our ways for the better and willing to accept another corporate whore in charge? I sure as Hell don't. -
<3 Keith Olbermann.

You know, I think a lot of people just need to realize that not everyone deserves to own a house. I know it sound very harsh, but it's true: some people just simply don't deserve a house. But the banks have been giving anybody, regardless of their economic position, the ability to own one. Big mistake.
-
I agree with Neghie.
But...I also posted elsewhere that if another Republican gets elected, I will go insane.-

Keith does his "homework" and adds some humor to his show, too. He provides a great service to TV viewers. I watch verylittle TV, compared to the general public but recently with the heat up of the election campaigns, I find MSNBC to be one in depth reporting. I missed yestersay's report so appreciate seeing it here.
To answer your question: No, I do not want another Republican.-

The legislature allowed unqualified buyers to purchase homes to maintain and even create an artificial housing bubble - which sooner or later bursts.
When you consider that as of six months to a year ago, China owned 40% of all mortgages in the US connected to the incredible amount of money they loan us, you see that a greatly inflated housing market provided significantly more equity than an uninflated housing market to the Chinese.
Plus, it artificially stimulated the economy because of all the people down the food chain making a living from home sales, refinancing and the (temporarily) appreciating housing market - allowing the foolish homeowners to borrow on equity to pay credit card bills.
Where does all the money end up you ask? In the hands of the super rich of course - and those homeowners end up in the street.
That's business as usual in Washington.
Not all the foreclosures taking place in this country are the result of unqualified buyers purchasing homes, AND, if a family walks away from a home they know they will be foreclosed on, it's considered an abandonment - and is not counted by the Ripusoffican administration (McCain is a Ripusoffican) as a foreclosure.
So, you see, the numbers of people losing their homes is being manipulated - business as usual in Washington with this administration.
It's time for a President who doesn't make excuses and cover his ass. It's time for an honest President who will address what's wrong. Vote for Obama!-

I know I don't want a Republican, that's why it's so frustrating to see the Democrats so determined to nominate an unelectable candidate. Give us someone to vote for and we will, Democrats!
-
Olbermann is the MAN.
-
NcSchu, Wrong, everyone deserves a chance to own a home. The lenders caused this by giving loans on houses people couldn't afford, and creative financing balloon payments. If people can scrape up a down payment and get a loan on a house in their income bracket, why shouldn't they get to buy one? That sounds like Republican elitist thinking.

Yes, everyone deserves a CHANCE to own a home, that's not what I was talking about. I'm saying not everyone who has a home RIGHT NOW during this economic situation deserves to own one because of their economic standing. Many homeowners stuck in this crisis don't have stable incomes, have massive debts, and bad credit. They were led to believe by the financial institutions that they could afford to own these homes and they gave in. I'm not saying it's their fault--they were tricked.

Always Vote Republican

Additionally, the impact of NAFTA (thank you Clintons) and the Bush administrations policy of subsidizing companies to ship and sell their factories to China has cost millions of Americans jobs and weakened the American economy tremendously.
Again, you can't trust the governments "manipulated" statistics - it's all self-serving, serving the lobbyists that is.
The effect(s) of exported American jobs hasn't even been addressed yet. It'll have long term consequences, but America is a very resourceful country and we can literally do just about anything we set our minds to.
The fact the government has allowed a basic necessity of a decent life (health care, housing, food, etc.,) become a commodity for speculation (profit) is another symptom of a sick administration.
Health, housing, education, clean water and nutritious food are not negotiable if you want to have a strong society. Maslow's hierarchy of needs met. Any Harvard grad knows that.
So, you say, if Bush, Cheney, Rove and Condi Lice know that, why have they allowed the American society to be weakened by deprivation of these things?
Smart question you ask. I'm glad you asked it.-

Let us not forget that it took nearly every elected Republican in Congress to enable the Bush administration - including McCain.

McCain. Hillary. Obama. Two Republicans and one Democrat. If we lined them up it would almost look like one of those "political" Evolution of Man posters. On one end you have the Neaderthal-like McCain clubbing his food and struggling to master fire -- and all the way on the other side you have the political equivalent of modern man, Obama.
Somewhere in the middle is Hillary. More civilized than the savage McCain, but still prone to pooping in her hand and throwing it at people if she gets angry or scared.
Duck! Hillary is getting pissed again! -
Crob... BRILLIANT!!!! HAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAA!!
-
Keith continues to be the only network talking head I respect.
-
Neo-cons have been messing up everything for so long that I'm fatigued. It's a lot to keep up with. Any Democrat in 2008 please.
-
Olbermann is so far up Obama's butt my TV smells after he's been on.
-
I am really hoping that the libertarian party take this once in a lifetime opportunity to supplant the republican party as the second party in this country. We no longer need the republican party.

Apparantly the Democrats are vying for second party, want to go for first? I'll vote for Gravel over the three stooges.
edit: Sorry I must apologize. The Three Stooges were wonderful comedians who gave many Americans hours of laughter. What an insult to them. -
well said crob, well said
-
McCain = McGAIN for Corporate America. He makes no apologies and neither does Bush. Same 'ol, Same 'ol. I've lived in Arizona for 11 years and until a few weeks ago, I couldn't recall a single thing that McGain has specifically done for Arizona.
Who is voting for the guy? Who believes anything that comes out of his mouth? He has no conscience, calls Obama "elitist." McCain wouldn't be seen speaking to one of his constituents unless it would benifit McGAIN. -
crob, you may have hit on something without knowing it. Line them up right to left, McCain right, Hillary moderate, Obama left. Obama supporters will move to Hillary because she is closer, but Hillary voters will split between the other two because she is in the middle.
-
Oh Snap Crob! (i've never even said "oh snap" before!)
THAT is an picture worth making. we would need full-bodied images from sideview or near-sideview, one of McCain hunched or bending over somehow with his hand out so we could put a club in it. or maybe a missile. then hillary also a little hunched with some ambiguous brown stuff in her hand, and finally Obama chin-up in stride looking toward the future.-

I like that image of Neaderthal McCain wielding a missle instead of a club! Excellent visual.
The "Evolution of Man" image of the three candidates could be used to describe the candidates intellect too.
McCain seems perpetually befuddled and confused. He doesn't really understand the economy and seems incapable of figuring out who the Shitte and Shia are. Also not very verbal. (grunt, grunt).
A little further up the evolutionary ladder we have Hillary. Has greater mastery of language than primitive McCain and able to use primative tools. Still not quite up to modern standards as she thinks McCain's "gas tax holiday" idea makes sense and she still believes pooping in her hand and throwing it at her "enemies" is a legitmate campaign tactic. Also not very good at long term thinking. While McCain can't think past getting his next meal, Hillary can't make plans further out then the next debate. Also not quite domesticated and has been known to utter, "When Hillary become Big Chief all Iran die! Me use heap big magic to kill who oppose Big Chief! Hillary has spoken!"
At the top of the ladder we have modern man, Obama. Capable of complex calculations, long term strategic thinking and beautiful oratory -- Obama represents the highest level of evolution amongst the three remaining Presidential candidates.
What lies beyond Obama? Al Gore!
I would like to see Al Gore debate McCain. It would be like watching Einstein try to play chess with a chimpanzee. -
go democrats!

"Obama. Capable of complex calculations, long term strategic thinking"
In what delusion are you in that makes you think he has done ANYTHING to prove that? -
The way he realized Iraq was a mistake and didn't vote to give authorization would be my first answer to that question.
-
If McCain realized Iraq was such a mistake, then why does he advocate an 100 year war? Also, that last statement isn't true. He might have said he wasn't going to authorize, but that's not the same thing as doing. A simple check on his voting records said that he has voted for authorization of the war every time he was asked. He also voted with Bush on torture.
Action speaks louder than words. McCain's actions suggests a Bush Third Term.-

Olbermann is one of the only people I can stand on TV nowadays. News networks need to take their responsibility as informers more seriously, eliminate the "fluff news", and start talking about REAL issues so change can be demanded from the people.
