Consumer group Which? said tests at its London offices found equipment carrying bugs that could cause food poisoning.
Out of 33 keyboards swabbed, four were regarded as a potential health hazard and one harboured five times more germs than one of the office's toilet seats.
I'm not sure if this says more about the dirtyness of Which? employees than anything else.
Dirty Which? Naughty Which? Get to your bed.

I have a wireless keyboard, so it can't get that dirty.

What does wireless have to do with people putting their hands on it and spreading germs?

That's why some bars stopped putting snacks in a bowl for everyone to pick at. Some people DO NOT wash their hands after they have been to the toilet and then put their hands in the bowl of peanuts yeugh. So it must be the same if anyone is sharing a keybpoard at work.
-
First: Wicker_duh EWW!!
Second: This has only been done once (At least that is the impression given) therefore there is NOT enough scientific research and evidence to even make this plausible, so this information cannot be scientifically accepted or believed.
Third: Why did What? do this? I mean it's not like they would randomly for no reason say "Today let's test our office equipment to see how many germs and such they're infested with." Just what in the world could have made them decide to do this? I must know! -
typing is gross

Germs used to be our friends, they helped build our immune system and kept it (our immune system) on it's toes. Now we have created superbugs because of all the antiobiotics we expose ourselves too almost daily.
I like using products that have natural ingredients that kill bad germs, rather than the ones tha use alcohol, and antiobiotics that kill all germs. I never touch a keyboard without spraying it down or using a sanitizer that uses natural ingredients. I don't want some superbug killing me, and I know most people don't wash their hands. Or at least I tell myself that to stay vigilant.
One product that can usually be found in most supermarkets is CleanWell, it isn't the best, but the ones that are completely natural are usally expensive or not found at most stores. For example , the link below is for a company that sells products that have natural ingredients.

I just hope the companies making these natural products are "trustworthy" or I might be using something that's worse. HAHA. Nah, mother nature ain't no bitch, like us. -
sometimes its like i'm making slow, drunken, sloppy, love to my keyboard maybe i should where some latex!!!

For my Bio 101 course, we had to swab two random areas in the building, and culture them for a week. Some people did toilets, door handles, light switches, the water fountain, compared women's to me's bathroom, etc. I swabbed one of the mouses at an Internet access station in the library, and I swabbed the little door that you push open to access the chute where snacks fall down in a vending machine... Well, my two cultures were the GROSSEST in the lab. Full of bacteria and mold. The toilet swabs were nearly spotless.

Hey, what doesn't kill ya, only makes you stronger...most of the time.
-
This is funny. I can see why. I don't understand why people think behinds are so gross. Fingers are how we manipulate the world. Fingers are bound to be more germ ridden. Poop is not that bad. It should never touch the toilet seat anyways.

I disagree with joshuaheller
Typing is necessary with the present tech, it is just typing one handed that is gross -
My keyboard is not the cleanest, but that's only because it has shake in between all the keys and underneath them as well, and some resin stains on the keys when I forget to scrub hard when washing my hands after schmoking. I could probably shake my keyboard for a j. HAHHHAHA.
-
I'm sure if you poured toilet-bowl cleaner on your keyboard, it would be pretty clean too.
It also wouldn't work. -
I never thought I needed to wash my hands after checking out Current, but now...
-
Buttcheek typing would be hard

That is just nasty but true. How many men look at pono and then decide to hit the hammer while at work and god knows if they are interrupted while they are busy, they will wipe their hands on their pants and act like they are typing. Uggggggggggggh just filth.

It makes sense that keyboards would be dirty. I mean, how much do we do with our hands, (appropriately as well as inappropriately) and we don't wash them? Some places keep hand sanitizer and such if people share computers. Smart idea. Has anybody tapped out work or school computer keyboards recently? Talk about lint and food crumbs. Ew.
