However, this is not because air pollution in Pittsburgh is increasing, rather, Los Angeles initiated programs to reduce pollution in recent years.

Fargo, ND and Salinas, CA were named the cleanest cities.

  • Salinas, CA is very clean because there is an almost constant breeze blowing down the Salinas valley off of Monterey Bay. It's a natural convection that occurs there.

    There is lots of pesticides sprayed all around Salinas and on down the Salinas Valley being predominately agricultural.

  • You know I live in Pittsburgh and I've been to LA for an extensive period of time. Frankly, I find this a little hard to believe. Don't accuse me of being prejudice or anything, but compared to LA, Pittsburgh isn't that smoggy even on the muggiest of summer days. I'd like to know where they tested the air quality for this. Rumor has it that it was downwind from a Coca Cola factory and that skewed the results.
