I thought Facebook was the flaw.

To be fair, Facebook do warn users not to give away too much personal information when they sign up. The bad guys can only steal the information that people choose to give away.
-
Looks to me like I'd have to report something "fishy" to get Facebook's security team to notice. Even then, there's no guarantee that it will make any difference. That's unacceptable.

As a young facebook user, I would exploit a flaw in my friends account. When he would log in on my computer, I would change his birthday. One girl wished him happy birthday 4 times in three months.

wow! i knew there was a reason i deleted my facebook account today! wtf?

I'm not feeling any sympathy for those who are upset by this. These applications don't harvest anything that you didn't already willingly supply to the public yourself. It can't take anything you didn't choose to put down. You don't need even need a bogus application to get information like that, it's already on the profile page.
It's important to safeguard your information, use some common sense. -
Any time you post info about yourself online, you have to face the all-so-real-risk that it is going to be seen, maybe even taken advantage of. That is just something you have to be willing to accept, or refrain from putting personal things out there. It is just that simple.

if its programmed, it can be cracked and broken. its that simple and its no surprise.

This just serves as a reminder to people: THIS IS THE INTERNET. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SECURITY.

Seeing as how facebook requires users to add an endless amount of 3rd party applications to do anything productive it's no surprise. i deleted my account last week because of this.

I dont think many identity thieves need much but a name and a birthdate nowa days. Facebook users are making themselves vulnerable by putting up too much information on their pages.

So instead of filing a bug report, they decided to broadcast it on national television? Smooth.

Easy. I ALWAYS hack into social networks by ACCIDENT! MySpace is the worst to figure. Crazy. It's 'internet explorer' . Makes it extremely easy for an ammerture to hack. Heck, I did'nt even try, and yet, so easy I could memorize it!

could anyone tell me how to contact facebook to make a complaint. as i have noticed on facebook ther is a false account of myself on there. how do i get it removed?????
-
Ok, not certain though nikki27, do you have you're real account? If so, theyprobebly sendyou a few messages about what's going on, then when theydo that, orif you still have any of those emails lying around, contact them by selecting 'reply'. If you don't have an account, get a temory one, then ask them to delete it. Hope this helps, and that wierdo whatdid it get's found.
