Ed Levine took time to dive into the food culture in GTA IV, and draws comparisons to their real life counterparts in New York City. The interesting thing isn't just the virtual similarities to more obvious brick and mortar locales in meatspace (take the Sprunk Cola sign for example), but the inclusion of lesser known landmarks like the Domino Sugar Refinery. Pretty interesting stuff...
The most astonishing aspect of GTA IV isn't merely the graphics or gameplay, but the city itself. More specifically the culture of the city. Liberty City is the first of the GTA worlds to feel lived in and vibrant, and the cultural aspects mesh with the storyline seamlessly.
