It's shaping up to be the worst election result for Labour in 40 years and the Conservatives even seem to be winning in Labour strongholds. If this kind of win happened at a general election the Conservatives would have a huge majority.
Sky News are reporting that Boris Johnson is the bookies favourite for London Mayor. The Guardian suggests that a high turnout of voters could see Ken Livingstone hold onto the job.
Reuters report that after two-thirds of the results counted from local councils in England and Wales, BBC predictions put the Conservatives on 44 percent and Labour only one point behind the Liberal Democrats who are on 25%.

Here's an update from The Guardian. Apparently as of now, the race is too close to call, the count begins 9am UK time with a result expected 12 hours later.

Boris to win? Help! I suppose everyone likes a bumbling idiot, but to vote for one? I hoped that people would resist ticking the 'comedy' box, its a real election after all not 'Mayor Idol'.
-
The Sun are reporting that in a late opinion poll conducted by YouGov, Boris was sitting on a six-point lead.
In true tabloid style, they get the juiciest sleaze from both sides:
Boris allegedly called Livingstone, Mayor for eight years, “out of date” and said his administration was “beset by allegations of sleaze”.
Livingstone, 62, called his rival “a joke”.
He said: “It’s not an election for the host of Have I Got News For You or Celebrity Mayor.
Politics has never been so much fun. -
There's no such thing as Perfect Mayor... It seems obvious to me. However, having lived in London for 15 years, I can safely say that the city has become a much better place to live. Bus services are more efficient than ever, the streets are cleaner and slowly but surely, London has started to get a well-needed makeover... And for that, THANKS KEN!
As to let Boris Johnson in... Oh my God, are we really that much into Punch and Judy that we should let London become the international centre-stage for the biggest buffoon of all???-

Poor Gordy. He looks well sad today. I might have to pop round to No. 10 and make him a cup of tea or something.
-
General turnout is predicted to be around 35% - that's disgraceful!
Not much of a mandate for the Conservatives really is it? Despite what Cameron might say. -
In a video statement (below) made earlier today, Brown acknowledged it's been a 'bad' and 'disappointing' result for Labour and says he'll 'listen and lead'. And then he does that strange "goh" thing with his mouth lots.
