Dear Physicians for a National Health Program Members and Friends,

We write to update you on the latest developments in our growing movement for single payer, including a tremendous media response to the Annals study which found that 59 percent of all physicians support national health insurance (more than twice as many as belong to the AMA). Enter Republican presidential candidate John McCain with a rehash of the failed free-market agenda for health reform.

But first, if you haven't already done so, we urge you to endorse the "Open Letter to the Candidates in Support of Single Payer Reform." Our goal is to gather 10,000 signatures and publish the letter in a major publication. Your help on this project is critical to our success, so please take a moment to endorse and pass it on to 10 colleagues.

  • Did you go sign the letter?
  • lets dispel this myth about socialized "healthcare™"

The most important part of Healthcare® is exercise
and nutrition. no doctor or scientist in the world would
contest this fact. All current and future American
healthcare™ plans have nothing to do with supplying
better food, lighted basketball courts or exercise
machines. I do hear One of the candidates frequently
encourage better nutrition and physical activity,
    though.

healthcare™ in america covers drugs, surgery,
"diagnoses™" rehab and a wide variety of
electromagnetic wave treatments and images. For
those drug/radiation users who insist on participating
in American healthcare™, most US states have
programs where anyone can get the same crappy
    healthcare™ for free.

a 'single payer" system is by definition likely to be
single-minded, will involve Someone[s]* getting PAID
and will have a singular* bias or perspective about
how to distribute and administer healthcare™.... and
will no doubt inflate an already corrupt and poisonous
system to even greater evilness and power than it
already has [if thats even possible]....and exacerbate /
worsen a nation of sick, fat, toxic people.

    fuken sweet idea. go hillary.

  • Smores, That isn't so. This is the Kucinich Plan and is endorsed by doctors. There has been and always will be a need for health care. This is expanded improved Medicare. I personally don't like to go to the doctor. I think it would be nice if you need to if you could. I'm not fat and I have always worked hard physically. I'm a good health conscience cook and we eat well. Didn't stop me from being sick for the last five or six years. Didn't help when the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong while I had insurance. Hasn't helped in the last two years after they finally figured it out and I didn't have insurance anymore, and couldn't afford the treatment. In three months I will be old enough for Medicare. I damned near didn't make it. It has been Hell for me to go from being an active healthy person to where I am now. You bet I want this plan. For the people that come after me. I do alternative medicine, there are some things it won't fix.
  • I signed it, thanks so much for alerting me. I really believe in this. It will save many many lives in this country.

I need to do some upbeat activism at least once a day. I think of it as my, "Mental Pilates". If not, I will go raving mad of the starkest caliber...if it isn't already too late. Mwah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!! um...
    Sorry.

  • Count me in.

Marilyn, please tell people that the link is along the right-hand side of the PHNP home page, and not to bother filling in the information on the first page you come to if you're not donating $ because you'll have to repeat the whole process.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • Spoon, Please explain it for me. My allergies are really bad today (cerebral Allergies) and I have a hard time understanding things myself. There is no way I can explain anything to anyone. I could try, no telling where they would end up. Thanks.
