Ya, that's something alright - what is this, a spoof of some kind?
Old footage? Somebody clue me in.-

I read his wikipedia page to get a feel for who the guy is - it gave a link to this very video on it. I checked back 10 minutes later and someone has removed the link and the reference to the video. You can see the version update in the history...
-
I just read the huffingtonpost.com article and I'll tell you, I don't believe him for one moment.
Why would he say a positive like - "How would you like to be in the White House right now?" - under his breath??
Doesn't add up does it? Why would you whisper a great thing? You wouldn't, unless it was holding your cards close to your chest, but we ALL knew they were vying for the Whitehouse so there was no reason for it - and that explanation holds no water.
You know, I've sworn and said things that I would not want repeated ever, that do not express my thoughts and beliefs, but that I did say in the heat of the moment or for a lack of better words or the inability at that time to more clearly and succinctly express my emotion. Heaven forbid anyone's captured it to use against me as though that epitomized or characterized my beliefs.
Not to defend him, I'll leave that to him. The question implied and that everyone wants to know is; is this attitude - whether he said those words or not - a part of the Clinton's mentality, or that of people in their circle, which would clearly inform the decisions and choices they make?
I just read the Wikipedia page on him, and the one thing that stood out to me was that he was a NAFTA advocate. The words Free Trade were used. "Free" sounds good, but the reality is not what the word implies with regard to what Kantor was advocating.
NAFTA hurt those "shit" people in Indiana. He clearly calls them "shit", no one can dispute that, and no one could dispute NAFTA took jobs from them - and who did NAFTA help? People like him. The wealthy who care not for Americans, but their own bank account(s).
Conclusion: I don't like him any way for siding against Americans and the United States in the interest of corporate profits and global positioning.
I'll add, that I know people and have heard others who are strong advocates of the "civil" rights of one group, but who also express (repeatedly) strong racial bias against other groups. On a resume one could write "advocate for equality and racial justice" and it would be "partially" true, or not a lye - completely.
I'm sure more will come out to impugn this guy's character over time - if he's a bad character. It's all about damage control now.
If you consider Hillary's attacks on Obama, the overt attempt to manipulate and change the context on Obama's statements about people being bitter or jaded against him (Obama), and that she called him "elitist", [she was clearly attempting to label him what she "is" to divert attention away from herself], then being defined by the company you keep, I'm sure he said THOSE words implied and that it is how he sees people all the time: People; something he does not respect, and something to manipulate for personal gain and pleasure. -
Same vid...other users calling it "Hillary's Macaca".
I have to say...videos and campaigning like this discourage me so much. Swift Boat, what the Bush campaign did to McCain in South Carolina in 2000...it is all deplorable and so far from what campaigns and elections should be about. My sense is that much of the appeal of Obama's campaign for so many people has been that he has stayed out of this kind of stuff. -
Thanks Tori, I'll cross link both these posts.
I agree with you totally. I must say though, that since it did come up, I felt it warranted cross-examination so as to identify what it means - so as not to be 'yet again' whitewashed to coverup wrongdoing / wrongdoers.-

I agree Tori...I'm no fan of Clinton's but this seems questionable to me. It's not clear what he says, and his connection to the current campaign isn't all that strong. I think calling it "Hillary's Macaca" is a stretch and probably is someone's wishful thinking.
I hope Obama steers well clear of this one. -
Ben Smith spoke to the film maker who also said the clip was doctored:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0508/Pennebaker_...
But here's the actual documentary it's from (The War Room). If you fast-forward to 4:40, you get to the part the clip is from. -
I just listened to the the "War Room" following your link slowdive, those whispered words do sound slightly different - but who's to say that version is untampered also to invalidate this version?
Tori is right and Obama is right - the election is about the future, real issues and Hope!-

This is just straight up BS. This was most likely posted up by someone who hates Hillary Clinton.
-
They disables the vid! Ican't see it anywhere! Somebody reacted strait away.
-
so if this is a bogus clip, should we flag it....has no place on this site...free speech is one thing but this is a waste...flagging...sorry
-
To defend slowdive...he/she didn't make the vid. And this is all over the place right now, so it's certainly news and is valid thread for discussion.
-
I question the video because unless that was a hidden camera the guy KNEW he was being filmed.
Why would he say something so outraegous in front of a cameraman?
I'm not saying it's impossible. But someone pointed out that the guy whispered because he was saying something he knew was wrong. Well, he also knew he was being filmed.
I don't know. I going to have to reserve judgement on this one. -
the original video is gone. Anyone know of a replacement?
-
I think the experts are saying this is a fake. I read this recently on Salon.com:
"After rewatching the clip, Pennebaker told the Politico's Ben Smith, 'He does not say that. He does not say that ... What he says is he's surprised Perot's numbers are holding. He says they must be shitting in the White House.' Pennebaker also told Smith that when the movie was released in theaters, no one thought Kantor said what he's now alleged to have said, and that he thinks audio was dubbed onto the original video.
This was shown in theaters and apparently no one heard this? I think we might have to give the guy the benefit of the doubt on this one. -
-
Thanks uroborus, it worked for me, only something's telling me itmight've been shorter then it was at first.
-
This is despicable politicking. Would say so regardless and have steered clear of crap like this aimed at others as well. If this makes it to the Current news page above all the other substantive stories here it will prove that this site is being infiltrated by the same people that post this crap on other sites. Tired of this kind of content getting attention here.

I listened to this several times with my super cool Bose noise canceling headphones. What I hear is, "It doesn't matter if we win Indiana. Those people are shit." "How would you like to be in the Whitehouse right now?"
In a competitive game like politics, people might say stupid things, but this guy's comments should not factor into the 2008 election. We have real problems like war, famine, poverty, and climate change.
Case closed. -
Okay, if you'll close it there. But I just have theurge to say one last, we panic about those thingsmorethan anything else, but as long as ignorent, predudice politicans are inchare, nothing's EVER going to change there that way.
-
Agreed.
One thing I'd like to know is who is behind putting this clip together.. I bet we'll find out before too long. -
Weak.
-
The media has been shilling for Shillary ever since Obama made it clear and public that he was going to investigate the activities of the feckless reign of Chimeror Dumya and his cronydom. If you'll notice, she gets a pass on everything for which his crap gets 30 days worth of ink on the front page. Hillary owes Rupert Murdoch a huge debt of gratitude.
http://current.com/items/88903951_obama_would_immediate... -
Why is this said to be fake?
It's from the documentary, "the War Room" (1993)
Great Doc. Check it out -
I listened to the footage in which Kantor is supposed to use the expletive. In the "enhanced" version that has the subitiles, I don't hear the racist expletive. And in the original "unenhanced" footage linked at the beginning of this post I don't hear the racist expletive.
Clearly the footage has been manipulated. But even WITH the manipulation, I don't hear Kanter say ni**er. I'd tend to believe what he said in the Huffington Post. I was brought up the same way. -
He's lying. I turned up the volume as loud as it goes and heard it for myself.
You can hear him say "Those people are shit" and "How would you like to be a worthless white nigger?" clearly, despite whispering. Don't brush this aside as a weak attack or unimportant, if we are laying guilt by association then Clinton should be in trouble for her advisor's remarks.
The fact that he has worked with the Clintons for so long adds up as more evidence they are elitist as well. -
racial slurs aside, that's got to be the most absolutely fucking pathetic attempt at a high-five I've seen in my life...
-
It isn't bogus, It has legs and it has a life of its own now. Obama will not touch this, I'm sure. I listened to the original You Tube post several times before I posted it. Kantor says very clearly that the people of Indiana are shit. Then the white N word comment. There was no mistaking what was said. Everywhere the original is posted it gets removed. Got to hand it to them they have clout. If it is inaudible and questionable what was said why are they working to hard to get it off?

You know, the "official" version may be the one that is "altered" to remove the racial expletive.
Maybe the version that is out now is the "real one".
Why would he say something that stupid knowing he is on camera? He can't and doesn't dispute that he called Indianans "shit", wasn't that stupid?
It is my knee jerk response to disbelieve it because it's a tough thing to swallow, but my aversion to it isn't a valid means of gauging it's validity either.
I would hate for his integrity to be unfairly impugned, but I've also thought that about Bush and Cheney, and Rumsfeld and Rice, and Gonzales, and and and and and. I'm getting really tired of giving questionable things and people the benefit of the doubt.
My believe is, that with Obama, he's straight up. He's got integrity. You know it's like a relationship that just requires tooo much effort to keep smooth and make right.
If Kantor didn't say an even more really stupid thing that Indianans are "shit", it's some serious revenge for HIlary's multiple exploitive attempts to smear Obama in the last month or so.
Just wait till we get to the Ripusofficans!-

Marilynn - it's kind of a "conspiracy" isn't it? That everywhere it get's pulled down. Why I wonder?
Are there a bunch of lawyers swearing they will tie up in court whoever posts it indefinitely?
That would be an abuse of our civil rights and judicial system wouldn't it?
I say, the ferocity of their "reaction" certainly does lend credibility to it, doesn't it?
I must say - the version up at the moment sounds different than the one I heard when I made my first post about it.
Could it be the one that is up now, is a version they provided?????????? It's linked from Youtube still, maybe they've replaced the original on Youtube with a version of their own to cause doubt now? That's what I would recommend for "damage control". What do you guys think? -
Here is the original version. I think the "white n*r" part has been fairly discredited. And the MSM hasn't covered this at all (as far as I know), so I'm not sure if it'll gain legs in any credible circles, which is where it matters. Anyways, this isn't a YouTube version, so it won't be removed.
I'm not a supporter of Hillary, but I also don't support lies.. so although I was the one who posted this video here, I was also the first to link up articles questioning it's credibility. -
It's a fake, and a bad one at that. Just more playing the race card from the Obama camp. That's the only thing they know how to do. Well, that and plagiarize speeches.
-
That sounds "more" like what I recall than the one posted by Current. Curious, it's on a web page dedicated to this video - still supports the perception that he is scrambling hard to discredit and cause all subsequent "listeners" to perceive something different.
It's doesn't sound like what 'uroburos* claims it says, nor what Crobb suggested - at least to me.
Ya, I listened to it a number of times with my really cool headphones on, and I would not say it's the same "whisper" I heard earlier. Sorry. Perhaps the cat's out of the bag. -
They said it. There is not a doubt in my mind. I watched it several times with the volume up as high as it would go. The video was smooth and the sound smooth. It had not been edited. It was whispered and they didn't expect it would be heard on the video. I heard it clearly. It was during Bill Clinton's campaign. That is the one they keep knocking off everywhere. They are guilty as sin.
However Hillary had nothing to do with that. It should be treated just the same as Obama's relationship with his old pastor. She said she wouldn't have continued going to the church where he was Pastor (even though She and Bill used him as a counselor after Monica). So she should fire Kantor after what she found out what he said. I seriously doubt that the people of Indiana think her having a staff member that thinks they are shit is going to help her campaign any. She didn't say those things, but she is hanging with the man that did.-

From the Obama camp? Give me a break. There's as much evidence it's from any opponents camp as there is that the video is completely real. It's probably some random person..

Some one splain this to the people of Indiana.
