The BBC reports the first ever interspecies sexual attack. A young male Antarctic fur seal pinned down a king penguin and attempted to mate with it for 45 minutes. The penguin resisted and tried to escape, but the seal overpowered the penguin in size and determination.

Scientists are unsure what compelled the young seal to attempt to mate with the penguin. They speculate the young seal was not allowed to mate with females of his own species because of his age, so he acted out aggressively. Sometimes fur seals eat king penguins, so it is also possible that his predatory instinct became sexualized.

When the seal was finished with the penguin, he largely ignored it. The penguin was physically unharmed by the incident. We can only imagine the emotional scars.

  • Seals Gone Wild ! This is pretty funny, but it reminds me or a more tragic case that happenned locally.

    Years back there was an elephant seal that raped hundred of harbour seal pups in Point Reyes National Seashore. When the park ranger went down to examine the beahvior, the elephant seal turned and charged the park ranger. So the ranger had to pull out the gun and shoot the elephant seal.

    Obviously this reporter has never seen the raccoon population of the Pacific Northwest on the prowl for stray cats. Nor have they looked at all the reports of people being arrested for having "relations" with their large dogs or farm animals.
    Interspecies rape is nothing new, but damn, you gotta feel for that penguin. Fourty-Five Minutes! That could not have been fun =[

  • what are you talking about? 45 Minutes is a quicky for me ;) but true, you got to feel bad for that penguin. Plus, interspecies isn't anything new. There's tons of of it, ligers, wolf dog hybrids, even a few cases of dolphins raping tourists that get to friendly with they're touch.

    this just is a reminder, there are many things that are universial in the world; music, eats, and well sex. It doesn't matter who you are or what your genetic makeup is, you still got to live by the 4 basic f's(food, flee, fuck, or fight)
