UC Berkeley's Hannas Hesse and Andrew Mcdermid show current tv a peek into their underground workshop where electronic beats creep through the hallways.

Their invention, a bubblegum ball activated drum sequencer, shows just how tangible the binary language can be.

  • lol. kdepinna is kind of right... but it's still pretty cool! not everything needs a purpose.
  • I dig the pod, especially how well you've edited the music so that it's consistent throughout the piece. I agree with Nicole how not everything needs a purpose per se, but this pod does have a purpose in that it's exploring a cool application of technology. The idea is that these guys have developed a fun little way to visualize digital data, and I think that's the larger thing this pod's getting at.

One thing I might consider, though, is moving that first thing the guy says (talking about how the sequencer has no modes) to another part of the pod, because as is I just get confused right off the bat. Once he start explaining things in more detail I begin to understand it, and that may be the time to throw that sound bite in.

  • cbritain said it best regarding this purpose you are searching for kpedinna.
