The American economy lost 20,000 jobs in April, the fourth consecutive month of decline, in what many economists took as powerful evidence that the United States is almost certainly now ensnared in a recession.

The Republicans don't want and will do all they can to prevent the economy from getting to bad - PRIOR - to an election because if the economy gets bad, they know it will destroy any possibility whatsoever of McCain's chance of being elected.
But, all Busheney's buddies need to do is lower the gas prices and everything will instantly get better!
Don't think the record profits, and the bragging of those profits isn't done to have an impact on the American people - and don't think the outrageous gas prices we're seeing isn't to keep a certain amount of pressure on the American people economically.
These things are being done to bush (that's funny, I meant 'push') people's buttons - to achieve the desired results. What is the desired result and what is the goal? Im glad you asked.-

I agree with JJMaster...we need to rethink what we produce and why. Then retool and make green work!
I'm self-(un)employed...everyday I see so much wood product on the street waiting to go to the dump...
So we're looking at the feasibility of cleaning up the scraps for resale and furniture production...
Materials cost: Almost nothing.
Overhead ratio: very low
Environmentally friendly? Yes
Profitable: Hell yes...have you priced custom furniture with a green tag lately? Some of the scraps from old homes are old yellow pine that is almost gone in the southern forests...expensive stuff.... -
It's a shame that so many people have to lose their job due to that fact we're fighting an insignificant war overseas when the war is really in our homes. When need to try to combat the recession, global warming, and the veterans with posttraumatic syndromes.

The numbers of unemployed do not include people who's uemployment has run out, or those who have not filed yet, so the real numbers are much higher.

JJmaster and Jimmyp have it, folks. Make jobs by converting to a sustainable society. Green collar jobs for everyone! Yeah, you have to work hard, and no, its not easy, but you know what? Its the kind of work that reminds you are alive, and for the good!

Here we go. All this talk about "Green". It's a scam. Yes, we need work in America how are you going to convince owners to stop outsourcing work for cheaper labor?
Remember the ONLY "Green" people are really concerned about is the not so almighty dollar.
