If this proves true, the late Li Ching-Yun of China would be the oldest person who has ever lived, surpassing the former record holder by more than 100 years.
-
Wow he must have mastered living!
-
His Qi was focused !
-
Life must've sucked for him.....like sucked for a long time.
-
Gosh - I want to live a long life, but I don't think I can afford to live that long - not even with a huge IRA!
One of the teachings of Buddha was to avoid the highs and lows in life and follow the middle path. This is good advice, but would a long boring life be better than a relatively short life (80 years) filled with adventure and risks? I wonder. -
I am betting his age was reported in dog years ;-)
-
But imagine all the stuff he was able to see and do. I wouldn't mind living to see my great grandchildren graduate college.
-
I wonder what was his secret....

Idk about this one 256 years is a long time. Have your ever seen someone at 100+ years, I think your body would stop working. I mean mentally you could live that long but seems physically imposable.

This is such a farce! There is no reason to believe that this actually happened.
-
This reads like a Weekly World News headline.
Maybe he is a distant relative of Bat Boy... -
In ancient times, a few people actually lived much longer. Elijah, supposedly, never died...he just rode the chariot right on out to the 12th planet...if he were to come back tomorrow, though, he might have to start over with pretty much the same rap...

"Idk about this one 256 years is a long time. Have your ever seen someone at 100+ years, I think your body would stop working. I mean mentally you could live that long but seems physically imposable."
i have seen it as opposite of that, i have a 97 year old great grandpa and his mind went just right before his body -
It'd be cool if this was true, but I really doubt it. I mean, really, if this man lived for 250+ years, why hasn't this reported in any other person--research shows that the eldest people now have some kind of genetic breakdown that helps them live longer. You'd think he'd have passed down some kind of genetic code that allowed his descendents to age as gracefully as he.
-
Why would anyone believe this?

Since we don't know much about Li-Chung Yun's early life how can we be sure when he was born? If this story has solid foundations, there needs to be solid evidence to support it.

One must keep in mind that the way we measure time now is not the way our Ancestors measured time.
So people in the bible who were said to be 200 or 300 years old may have been only 80 or 90 by the way we measure time.
The same would be for those in china Li Ching-Yuen for example:
Doubts about his real age
It is not likely that his age will ever be authenticated, and many believe such mortality is humanly impossible. According to the legend, during the course of his lifetime he had 14 wives and about 200 descendants.
Although not officially recognized in occident, the research in the official Chinese records stays that he would be by far the oldest person who ever lived, surpassing the official record (even any other claimed age) by more than 100 years.
The official title for the longest confirmed human lifespan goes to a French woman, Jeanne Louise Calment, who died in 1997 at the age of 122 years.
The Tai Chi Chuan Master Wong Kiew Kit wrote about Li Qing-Yun in his homepage, answering to his readers' questions: "I am not sure whether the Good Luck Man, Li Qing Yun, was a real person or just a myth, but he is certainly an inspiration to us." -
John McCain still owes this guy lunch money.

I don't know why some people think that this is so farfetched. It truly proves how ignorant some people are.It is highly possible to live for more than 200 years.Trees live for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years. We just don't live that long most of the time because humans are selfish, arrogant, and gluttonous.

@1percent- No man with 23 wives has lived a sucky life.

Here it is folks. He perhaps did live to be 250+ years old!!! How?? Nutrition. According to researchers, to reach such a ripe old age, Li Ching-Yun ate a plentiful amount of Goji berries, along with many other natural organic herbs throughout his day. It is NOT far fetched to believe that someone in perfect living conditions, with proper nutrition and self care can live to be that old. Same with the people in the Bible. In todays society we have been hit accross the head with genetically modified and heavily processed foods. Not to mention "fake" water. Disease runs rampid as a result. In Li Ching-Yun's humble and peaceful village environment, sure he could have lived to be that old.
Find out for yourself the benefits of pure organic goji berries. Google: goji berry health benefits. I guarantee results if you eat a healthy amount of goji's with a prodominately healthy overall diet. What do I mean by guaranteed results? Find out for yourself!!!
-
i would've just committed suicide. i mean like consider that in about 60 years, you can see some horrible stuff, but 200+ years? that's just terrible.
-
yeah i've got some bridges for sale cheap!
-
he must have been eating some goji berries, and frenches yellow mustard.
-
hoax.
or would have hit every news source on the planet by now!
and there would have been others in same family or same village..-

I don't think there is anything sprightly about the way pigeons walk. I love watching pigeons - there are rarely two pigeons that have the same plumage, their plumage seems to be almost as varied as human faces. But when they walk, they are not really sprightly -- except when you feed them. Then, they are overly sprightly and use their wings a lot.

Punk_as_Hell,
Misanthrope aside, we're all absolutely nothing like trees. What you're basically saying is that an oak tree lives longer than a human, not because of the way it develops, but because we eat candy and occasionally fail to yield at an intersection.
So why do Daisies live much shorter life spans than we do? Is it because they're the whores of the floral world?
And how about the common house fly? We live longer than they do, too. Is that because the common house fly is so selfish and gluttonous? It must have nothing to do with basic biology.
