Bush "finding" widens war on Iran

Six weeks ago, President Bush signed a secret finding authorizing a covert offensive against the Iranian regime that, according to those familiar with its contents, is "unprecedented in its scope."

All this costs money, which in turn must be authorized by Congress, or at least by a few witting members of the intelligence committees. That has not proved to be a problem. An initial outlay of $300 million to finance implementation of the finding has been swiftly approved with bipartisan support, apparently regardless of the unpopularity of the current war and the perilous condition of the U.S. economy.

Shame on the media and shame on the US public for buying the crap they feed us...

  • Moneymoneymoney. We've been spending a lot of it lately, and look what's happened. (recession, yay.)
  • And let me guess...Our Congress will not be able to do anything about it... I will say this then should this happen: If neither Clinton, Obama, or McCain say nor do anything to stop this along with this Congress I may not even bother voting at that point. What will be the reason to? I will already know they are all in this together. As it is with this news hitting the Internet, how could they not know this is a possibility and yet, silence from the lot of them on it. So tell me just what my vote on their rigged machines would do then should they prove to the American people by allowing him to attack Iran that they don't have what it takes to really lead in a time of crisis as a 'president'? They already have proven that as Senators by not calling for his and Cheney's impeachment. Personally, I think by that point it will be time to take this into our own hands.

  • What worries me is, What else is this guy "Secretly" signing?

What Rights did I just lose with his signature?
And when are we to find out about it?
Once it is too late of course...

Very disconcerting to even speculate on the upcoming events of the next year.

  • It does make you wonder what else we have lost with the signing of this. However the bigger worry for me is why aren't other countries crying fowl play with what our government does to enemy combatants (torture and holding without trial). The only reason I bring that up is because the article said that the signing of this finding allows the government to Assassinate leaders in Iran and surrounding areas that they don't like. This is another departure from international treaties on war isn't it? I know that with war there are no "real" rules, but shouldn't the US population and other countries say enough is enough?

  • I agree with voyagerfilms. There is much that the press would like us to be distracted from. There is so much more deceit.

  • Just nuke Iran and be done with it, I'll donate a turd sandwich to the recovery effort.

  • This, along with the countless acts of idiocy our president has made in the past seven and some years, destroys any faith I have in the American system. How am I supposed to buy the idea that democracy can work overseas if we can't even get it work here? I don't by the way. I can't call a "secretly signing" of anything to be democratic in any sense.

Does Bush really think that he can get away with this? Perhaps he thinks we'll just bitch about it online and leave it at that. Perhaps he's right.

  • The ice cream Man took the words out of my mouth three hours ago. I'm not suprised, the public can't afford to think about issues that effect Iran when people are more worried about how they are going to keep the lights on, a distraction the failure of the economy, People losing job, there homes. I worry about the world if I don't who will? locked in thought only conscious of the harsh realities awaiting humanity if this insanity does not cease. The new world has arrived. The president always signs things when your sleep and while you're not paying attention on the week ends and holidays. Haven't you figured it out yet, he could give a rat ass about what you think. He has a agenda and no matter what anyone say he is going to carry it out. The collape of the American economy.

Keep it 100 it smells teasonous. I don't what no one knocking on my door and killing me over my thoughs.

  • This is old news, everyone knows what is going on. The problem or lack of problem is that no one knows what to do about it, or is too afraid to say it! No body farts, picks their nose, or scratches their ass...because were Americans and are predisposed to lying and being fake while living in a cell phone texting/myspace/internet blog world doing nothing to better our nation while distracted in electrinic bliss as old rich white people sell out our country because they're going to die soon and want to go out as powerful as they can be. Welcome to fascism America...The first civil war was bad, the next is starting as WWIII has already kicked off. Plain to see my people.

  • The big concern is in the fact that the MEK would most likely be used for "covert" actions in the country... in all honesty, those on the ground in Iran have indicated that these kind of actions have already begun...

It's the first step... and the mainstream media needs to pick up on this...

  • WAR PROFITEERING OLIGARCHY could be stopped in this country if politicians and journalists constantly used these terms and rightfully demonized the individuals and corporations guilty of this legal, but unethical, crime against the MANY men and women unlucky enough to be cannon fodder for the FEW. If WAR PROFITEERING
OLIGARCHY is erased from our vocabulary, we will always have WAR PROFITEERING OLIGARCHS! Wake up America, is it 1984?

  • The man (bush) is just a idiot, spoiled, retarded, fetus, that should have been flushed down the toilet when barbara took a pee after having bush senior sleazed sperm after fu)king her.

All must remember that this jack ass bush was a failure in oil business before going into corrupting elections and faking leadership.

His two daughters will know the pain their fool for a father bush has done to the planet. The only way we will recover from the damage this corrupt and criminal administration has caused, is overhaul the entire political governmental structure. There is too much rotten in the whole entire government, without exception!!

  • If Obama, Clinton, and McCain want to debate over "who supported the War," perhaps we should be asking the candidates exactly WHICH war they mean. If media coverage continues as such, I fear the public will begin to clump all armed conflicts together, thus resulting in widespread apathy.
    renbyrd
  • Renbyrd,

In many ways I think it's too late... there's already a general apathy to it all, especially when you look at what's happening in Afghanistan... one hopes that the winner in November will not pull troops out of both Iraq and Afghanistan... they're two different wars.

  • When I read things like this it makes me wonder why am I spending so much money on an immigration lawyer to have residency in this country.

  • Hello, recession.
    DebbieWeiser
  • This is the reason these warmongerers that were stupidly elected TWICE should have been impeached long ago. Let's hope an election takes place.

We need to stop focusing on Obama's pastor and how old McCain is and Hillary visiting gas stations!

We need to get these warmongering criminals out of office before they destroy the world as we know it. (Financially and/or physically!)

Bush/Cheney need to be held accountable, yet they are still allowed to get away with this type of secret behavior that is draining our country of people, resources, money, and most of all respect by other countries. Bush squandered how the world felt about us after 9/11. He made us into the enemy instead.

Bush has to be up there as the worst president in history, as well as one of the worst leaders in all of history!

  • The actions of this government are sounding more and more like that of the Soviet Union. What's next, Bush will have people killed and digitally removed from photographs? This is terrible, and downright scary.
    NcSchu
  • Oh yes, NCSchu, absolutely. We're becoming more like a Facist State every day. Our government is already downgrading the notion of torturing our enemies. What's next? Corporate Slavery? (Oh, that's if you work at Wal-Mart)

  • I love Bush's "secrets"... if nothing else George is really funny. Watching or reading about him is like observing a 10 year old... like Tom Hanks in the movie Big.

"When I read things like this it makes me wonder why am I spending so much money on an immigration lawyer to have residency in this country.'

Well, where are you coming from? If you are not a terrorist or law breaker, you are welcome. Americans are a good people... Certainly not a perfect people, but we are all/each works in progress, as is our nation... We continually improve.
Except for the Bushites who are deep in the dirt.

  • How many people are familiar with 4chan? If you're not, you probably wouldn't like it if you went there. But anyway, at 4chan, they do some crazy stuff. Crazy. You can put a phone number and an e-mail addess on that site and say "make this person's life a living hell," and guess what? They will. On the other hand, you can say, "Hey, want to go spam the snoop dog forum with smiley faces until it shuts down? It'll be loltastic." And they will. (They actually did. Lolz.)

Now, there's also a good side to these people. (Well somewhat, anyway.) They generally despise scientologists, and so they posted anonymous videos on youtube calling for the cult's destruction and got media play, on the interwebs and the MSM, I believe. They also spread the idea that scientologists are cultists and that scientology is evil everywhere they could on the internet. They marched in protest as well, though it was like 10 people total in each city.

Bubber said that if the media started to present our country for what it really is instead of acting as a shepherd on behalf of the government, (sorry if I put words into you mouth, Bubber), then things would change.

I say, let's affect the media. 4chan has already done it and is still doing it, and I might be able to get them involved. Essentially, what we would do here on current is organize peaceful "raids" on sites online where we would spam what we believe about our government for everyone to see. For example, we could go to conservapedia and edit tons upon tons of article with stuff like "Our government is not a democracy. Use your heads." and other more specific and substantial stuff than that. Then, we could move on to Fox News and post, in every article possible, everyday, our beliefs. Not only could we go to conservative sites, but we could also go CNN and MSNBC. Now, keep in mind, we would need to do this anonymously, otherwise Current would get a bad rep. Once again, 4chan has been successful in this manner. Absolutely no one was able to identify who the people were or whence they came when they were crying out against scientology. We could do the same.

So, we just have to get a little organized first, and then we will be able to have a huge impact. First it will be solely on the internet, but it will leak its way into the MSM, and then the sheep shall have the wool removed from their eyes. To begin, we'll have to make some slogans, some anonymous user names, find some sites to raid, etc.

Speaking of which, does anyone know of a conservative version of Current? :)
