ZION, Ill. -- Steve Kreuscher wants a judge to allow him to legally change his name. He wants to be known as "In God We Trust."
Kreuscher (CROY'-shir) says the new name would symbolize the help God gave him through tough times.
The 57-year-old man also told the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald he's worried that atheists may succeed in removing the phrase "In God We Trust" from U.S. currency.
He recalls that the phrase "God Reigns" was removed from the Zion city seal in 1992 after courts deemed it unconstitutional. Zion was founded as a theocracy - by a sect that believed the Earth was flat.
The school bus driver and amateur artist in the northern Chicago suburb says he has filed a petition to change his name in Lake County Circuit Court.

Shouldn't he want it to say "In God I Trust?" Why "we?"

--- as if removing that from our currency would stop him from worshipping, believing, praying....
another artist's "statement."
maybe his works will sell for more, now...
i'd bet against it. .... -
I think I will change my name to "rinse, lather, repeat".
-
I say let him do it.

He should be able to make his name whatever he wants for whatever reason he wants. I think the only time you maybe shouldn't be able to make your name something is if it contains hate speech or something like that, but this doesn't.
-
isnt there a guy who changed his name to Jesus Christ?
-
It's our right as an american to change our name to whatever we feel like.
Also I think the whole thing about that town being started by a sect that believes the earth is flat is a little unrelated.-

in god we trust? first of all, this guy suffers from multiple personality disorder. and couldn't he pick a cooler name like lazarus? i'd go for aminadab. peculiarity of his name aside, it's a free country and he has the right to do what he wants.

the judge should deny the request, then order that "Steve Kreuscher" replace "In God We Trust" on all US currency just to prove a point.

Foolish god followers. Everyone knows that Xenu is the lord of all and will come on his space planes. Wake up people!
