Would attack on Iran be fulfillment of Bible prophecy?

If you read the book of Revelations in the BIble, it mentions a final battle between West and East (Armageddon,) and nuclear exchanges are involved. It is hard to not then question whether or not this is one motivation of Neocons in this government and Israel in trying to lead us to a war with Iran. The link above gives a very comprehensive overview of a place called Megiddo where many of history's greatest battles were fought. I admit it may sound a bit farfetched, but is it really considering who we are dealing with?

  • It also speaks of an aliance between Persia, and the biblican equivelent of Russia. So an Alliance between Russia and Iran, leading to a horrendous war between the East and West. That's what you get when both countries leaders are religous zealots. Ahmidenijad and Bush, not a good pair such an outcome might seem favorable to them, scary isn't it! Some say the U.S. is also mentioned, "The Lion of Brittain spreading across the sea."

  • Yes, Ahmadinejad is really not any less zealous about war than the rest of them. Very strange how it all seems to be playing out.

  • "Yeah, you don't believe we're on the eve of distruction." Very scarey stuff.

  • Yes, and as I stated I wouldn't even entertain the notion if those in power now weren't there doing all they could to also put the American people and Congress in check to keep them from stopping this, and weren't such ideologues. When the invasion of Iraq first took place after "shock and awe" Bush slipped and called it a "Crusade." The Israelites fell at Megiddo to the Muslims centuries ago... is this their revenge? This hatred goes back centuries and is nothing new... just different players. Scary indeed.

  • If we nuke Iran, sure it will be fulfilment of biblical prophecy. I cant see the future though. Who knows what Cheney and his crew are really planning right now. What I can say, if we do nuke Iran, Russia is a teeter totter...., who knows what they might do to back Iran(Russia has nukes, and is scheduling to test launch 9 balistic missiles in 2008). Not to mention, Israel in the mix ready to back The US in its "real" intentions for attack on Iran.(Israel is armed and ready) This is about world domination, and Israel is the spot where the power will return. The bible gives us a discriptive picture of the players involved in the end times world war. I think nuking Iran would be a fullfilment of biblical prophecy, and just the beginning of a nasty world conflict. Who REALLY knows but God though right? I am just using faith, fair judgement of the situation, and believe in most of the Bible as literal text, to come to my conclusion.

  • All prophecies are self-fulfilling, don't give the bible any credit for a bunch of vague end of the world descriptions.

Revelations also fits perfectly well with Napoleon's wars and World War II.

But as to the idea that these people are trying to recreate the end times, that is a frightening factor.

  • Attacking Iran would not be a fulfillment of Revelations to bring back the Messiah. As Saladin mentioned all Prophicies are self-fulfilling and would happen at an appointed time. Attacking Iran probably will not cause the nations to invade Israel for the final battle that God will intervene in.

Though for Christians, it does mean that they pay more attention to Iran and some will feel that they see signposts that will over time end towards the invasion of Israel.
