Is he running for office too?
-
too bad i can't translate for myself. whats lost in translation might cost us everything. Whatever anyone says there is one thing I think we can all agree on Iran should not have nukes.
-
Can't we all agree that no-one should have nukes? Surely that would be a much better agreement...

It's not chilling, it's reality.
But the bigger question is this... if Israel makes the first move, and Iran retaliates... what will the U.S. do???
I'd love to hear the candidates answer to that question, because that will most likely be what happens... Israel will make the first move... -
Someone in Hillary's camp is explaining the definition of blowback to her right now. I'll bet this story breaks pretty soon, i mean what would the media want more than an Islamic Rev. Wright. This week is gonna be interesting :)recommended by Chique

"..... if Israel makes the first move."
Israel would be acting under the "Bush doctrine" that allows a country to act pre-emptively to preserve its security. It is the doctrine used to justify the Iraq invasion.
As far as I can recall neither Democrat has repudiated the Bush Doctrine. Obama has said he would cross the border into Pakistan.
As for Iran retaliating against Israel, I am not sure Iran has the means to accomplish that.recommended by JanforGore -
Yes, it has come to the point where USA MUST STOP feeding, protecting the agenda of forign powers and sending our jobs overseas. If we MUST WAR with some nation - to save USA's soil (OUR COLLECTIVE asses) - it must be a DEFENSIVE action (pro-active) and it is engaged with EXTREAM Predjudice. We didn't learn shit from Viet Nam and Korea did we? Our current debt and position on world politics is shameful, weak and distroying our country.

I did see this story 2 days ago, maybe it just took a while to get on YouTube. It had the translation of what was said. Basically it sounds like rhetoric on both sides trying to play to their base to whip up support.
"A disreputable American (presidential) candidate has said that if Iran attacks Israel, she will obliterate Iran if she is the president. I tell the American people, it is a shame for them that their presidents are servants of Israel without any willpower."
"What they are saying recently is just psychological war. However, if the crazy people in Washington or Tel Aviv take any military action, the Iranian nation will hit them with such a slap that they will not be able to get on their feet again."
"We are observing the siege of Shiite Sadr City in Iraq. It seems Americans would like to make what happened in Gaza happen in Sadr City too. We can only conclude that America is fighting Islam" -
When did Iran get a military strong enough to threaten America? They could barely fight off Saddam, nevermind the nuke capital of the world.
-
actually iran has a very strong military, thats what they spend all their oil money on.
-
I would love to ask this 'cleric' some questions. I mean, does 'Islam' plan to take over the world and push their way onto us all (by force)? Does Iran simply want to overcome their 'local' issues with other countries? And for Mrs. Clinton...I am a bit frightened and angry that she would put my friends and families lives on the line by sending these types of threats out! It's not like this cleric 'started' this and sent the U.S. threats! Come on, candidates!! Can we ever get someone in office that is going to focus on getting AMERICA to be a better and more defended place?! It seems that our government is stuck on aiding and policing the world...and if they were to put half of those efforts toward rebuilding our economy and defending ourselves, we wouldn't have to worry about these things!?!?

ya but, from what it looks like from some quick research, the are nowhere near top in the world. Or even near top in the middle east.

I ran across this little article in NYT dated May 2nd.
It is relevant to this thread.
Title:
"Iran protest to U.N. about Clinton Comments" -
what is really strange in all this is that the only country who ever used weapons of mass distruction is the one most concerned over everyone else having them...
secondly, there is always two sides to an argument and we must learn to listen. nuke power is clean energy, for the most part safe...
-
Hey, Hillary wants to KEEP the peace... We want a thriving relationship with all the peoples of the earth, if it could only be so...
-
I only hope that she speaks as harshly to Israel... They too should know that Americans want no pre-emptive strikes...At All. We want to move on with developing our world as peacefully and as respectfully as we can. Respecting life. You know Christians, Jews, and Muslems, all share the same Almighty Father... Don't We...... Think about that and how our God wants us to be together here. None the less, Senator Clinton has simply stated that if any nuclear disruptions occur... We will be able to obliterate them... that sounds mighty powerful to me... NO NUKES ANYWHERE PLEASE... DO NOT KILL OUR EARTH... I BEG YOU EACH AND ALL.
-
Ahhh the inflammatory remarks of presidential hopeful Georgina Clinton. . . I mean Hillary Bush . . . I mean . . . ah you know what I mean. Is she like Bush? or is she playing to a specific audience?
In contrast, the "we will destroy or obliterate" language of our current and future leaders is pretty similar to the violent language of radical muslims, just different idiom.

That man is a master manipulator. Granted Hilldawg is stupid and it was a question that was stupid and shouldn't have been asked and i believe she had quite the unprofessional response but regardless. Look at what he says. He is turning it into propaganda to rally his people and he's doing it well. The USA and Israel are allies yet he puts the US as if we are underneath Israel. He turns the war in Iraq into a war on religion, their religion. He states, unless someone else strikes first there will be no "slap there will be no getting up from" but how soon will that hold out? Iran is a volatile nation that will soon have the power to start WW3 and I see it happening within the next decade
where's vierotchka? i kinda want to hear her opinion on this one. -
Way to go Hillary, excellent diplomatic skills.
Why does this woman have so much support? -
Here's a Current video clip from DemocracyNow with both democratic candidates' responses to questions about Iran...follow the link below...Clinton defends her comments and Obama questions her tone...
-
This is why Hillary is not only divisive but down right dangerous. She literally threatened to kill 65 million men women and children for the sake or 7 million.
Israel is a tad bit bigger than Seattle and perfectly capable of defending itself which it has done on many occasions. Hillary has threatened to use our nuclear deterrent against a sovereign nation not attacking the US, a move not unlike the one Mr. Bush used to take us into Iraq.
This is simply more political pandering and over compensation on Hillary's part. She's simply telling the simple minds of her base what they want to hear. Unfortunately it's putting an entire region and mostlikely the world on edge. -
Does anyone remember reading "Alas Babylon" back in the late 60s? Chillingly similar things going on now that started the 3rd World War in that book.
-
when will the world realize that carefully choreographed assassinations are the solution .
-
Israel doesn't need us to obliterate Iran. They have 200 nukes and the intelligence agencies to know when to use them.
All this is just politics.-

All Nukes should be banned, period. When will people realize that killing be gets killing? I thunk it is time to evolve just a little, or have we learned nothing from history.
-
great that she's not even in the white house yet and already picking fights. just what we need.

judaism, chritianity, islam,it seems to me we follow a god of war. cant we all just get along" -rodney king
-
Clinton is trying to get the Republican vote with all this war talk. If Obama said what she said they would think he's crazy, but since Hillary said it she's making a statement. Big double standard right there. Even in 2008....some things never change.

Is it just me or does politics these days seem to be nothing more than chest pounding competitions?
So a lot of countries have nuclear capability nowadays, and of those countries a huge chunk (forgive my accurate statistics) have missiles..
Big deal..
Once someone has advanced weaponry its not long before everyone else has to too.. Its about protection, or intimidation, or whatever..
I think Iran was jumping the gun a bit, I mean look at the source..
Anyhow as JRR Tolkien once wrote, "Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger."
I think so is Islam... They should have taken a deep breath and counted to 100 or something and realized that there is a difference between an opinion and a threat.

the things people say to win votes... war is awful but is almost impossible to stop especially when interfering with another countries wars. also, id like to point out, that muslims have interest in isreal - there are major muslim religious sites in isreal and i seriously doubt they would ever destroy the country like that. don't believe all the hype the media feeds us. my two bits.

Is anyone here capable of saying what those subtitles are worth? I have heard quite many translations from Farsi, but these subtitles seem far to concise to carry all the meaning of that speech. I am not convinced that the meaning is there and cannot really make myself an opinion about the whole thing...
However, I did understand perfectly well what Mrs. Clinton said. And I am not in favour of it in the slightest.
And regarding Iran fighting off Saddam, they would probably have been a lot better at it had Saddam not had the support of the United States. And the war would have lasted less long had Iran not received weapons from Israel (for a good insight into Iran, check "Hidden Iran" by Washington-based iranian scholar Ray Takeyh, a very interesting book for anyone who wants to understand more about Iran!).

How wreck less of a statement is "I would obliderate Iran" on national news? I know she's a female and she's trying to prove her masculinity, but that's no excuse for her brainless machismo. Remember, stupidity and executive power aren't supposed to be synanamous.
I don't understand when the US became more interested in Israel's best interest over it's own. Why are we always willing to help Israel when it hurts us?-
