  • It's not an endorsement, but it is significant given the independent support Paul has attracted. This is another solid point for Obama's super-delegate argument that he's the stronger candidate to face McCain in the general. Add cross party/independent appeal to number of states, number of pledged delegates and popular vote.

  • who's ron paul? rofl!!

  • would/could ron paul run on an independent ticket this year?

i think it would be great to see obama, mccain, nader and paul discuss the differences in their economic policy in a fair debate. it would be soooo informative to the public and would allow for us to see the different shades of politics that exist between RED and BLUE. too bad we don't live in a country where there are open, non-partisan, fair, truthful and meaningful debates...

  • Ron Paul has such ardent supporters. This is great news for the Obama camp!
    Julie_Soller
  • That is great news.

I know a slew of republican die hards who are voting for or are least strongly considering OBAMA.

Very few republicans are "truly" considering hillary.

Both McCain & Hillary really lack power. They are both such little bratty name-callers. They have no bravado. No machismo. No Pacino.

  • All Congressman Paul said was that Obama would most likely be better than McCain and Hillary with regards to the war and foreign policy. It is hard to disagree with that. Most of us Ron Paul supporters would sooner write him in than cast a vote for the other candidates. Anyone who is concerned about this country's economic future would benefit greatly from reading any of Dr. Paul's work on the subject including his new book "The Revolution: A Manifesto" (specifically chapters 4 and 6). The book is a must read for any American. :-)

Click the link on the right if you would like to see the interview with Wolf Blitzer that the Huffington Post is referencing (Obama remark at 2:54).

  • Well, I suppose when you look at what Ron Paul wants, Obama would be the most likely candidate to provide for him he truely wants...If that vaguely makes any sense v v;

  • While "Dr. Paul" is often the only intelligent voice in Washington, he's still batshit crazy and stupid.

Yes, we're in a serious financial crisis and we cannot afford national healthcare, SS or more military spending. Nice points RP, thanks for that and many other intelligent things you've said and defended. Excellent voting record by the way.

No Dr. Paul, evolution really is real, abortion is necessary, I'd rather we not pull out of the U.N. or establish a gold standard again and before you continue with the "bootstraps" argument maybe you should become more familiar with the social and labor issues that arise when you let people do whatever they want. No votes for you Mr. Paul.

  • Not surprising.

  • I'm sorry, but the broader context of Ron Paul's message far outweighs any sound bite quasi-journalistic criticisms. Yes, evolution is real. No, Paul would never force his religious beliefs on us. In fact, he would vehemently defend our civil liberties. Yes, abortions are necessary and Paul feels that under the Constitution the decision should be turned over to the states. Even if abortion were made a state level issue I know in my state it would definitely remain legal. Yes, we should be "united" with "nations" in free trade and friendship (a la Jefferson). No, we shouldn't sacrifice our sovereignty to unelected foreign elites like the ICC, NAFTA, GATT, WTO, CAFTA or to the proposed direct taxes by the UN.

Paul is for monetary policy reform. He wants to expand transparency of the Federal Reserve by publicly televising their meetings and requiring weekly publishing of the M3 monetary aggregate and components. (The Fed stopped publishing M3 data in 2006, effectively pulling the rug over their inflationary activities). As for gold and silver, he wants to legalize them as a competing currency via H.R. 4683. Can anyone of us argue against the logic of strengthening our dollar after the near 10% devaluation we've experienced this year?

With regards to the "bootstraps" argument, I'd say he is pretty familiar with the socioeconomic factors of "letting people do whatever they want" or freedom and liberty. He is also very aware of the converse, grim consequences that arise from stripping citizens of those rights and condemning them to servitude.

For a more in depth look at where he stands on the issues follow the link below.

  • I'm glad that Dr. Paul came out with his opinion or other wise likely observation. I've been a Ron Paul supporter since I heard him speak. Whil I don't agree with obsolutely everything he inquires I do believe he would of been the best thing for our country. But then again what support believes in everything their chosen canidate says.

  • Ron Paul and Obama have a lot in common. They've both used the Internet to create awareness and raise huge amounts of non-corporate money from people like you and me.

Clinton and McCain are the Corporate Bopsey Twins. They are one in the same, but appearing on different sides of the aisle--note the word "appearing"--as in FAKE, or PANDERERS!!

Obama panders to the people, I'd rather have a people panderer than a corporate or religious panderer.

McCain has also flip-flopped on so many things he used to stand for, why isn't the MSM bashing him like they did John Kerry?

Hillary's fake Gas Holiday will only stall us from figuring out that we should be taxing the hell out of the gas corporations who are making record profits and Bush/Cheney, INK are just sitting there allowing this corruption and profiteering to happen.

Pelosi just says, "Impeachment is off the table." She's a pitiful Speaker and a poor example for women who want to break the corporate ceiling without selling out in order to do it. Cuz that's exactly what she did.

  • Hopefully his insane blind followers will transfer into Obama votes. Did you know Ron Paul is a member of the Religious Right?

"The notion of a rigid separation between church and state has no basis in either the text of the Constitution or the writings of our Founding Fathers. On the contrary, our Founders’ political views were strongly informed by their religious beliefs. Certainly the drafters of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, both replete with references to God, would be aghast at the federal government’s hostility to religion. The establishment clause of the First Amendment was simply intended to forbid the creation of an official state church like the Church of England, not to drive religion out of public life. The Founding Fathers envisioned a robustly Christian yet religiously tolerant America, with churches serving as vital institutions that would eclipse the state in importance." - Ron Paul

The Constitution does not once mention God and the Declaration only refers to an ambiguous "Creator". Has Ron Paul even read the Constitution?

Let the Voters' regret begin. Did you know that Ron Paul is a member of the Religious Right? He's hardly a Libertarian and certainly not a Constitutionalist. Don't believe me? See for yourself.

Let's start off with his denial of Darwin's Theory of Evolution - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JyvkjSKMLw&feature=...

And his denial of the existence of Global Warming - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUm1aVwRnC0&feature=...

And his belief that the Ten Commandments are equitable to the Constitution - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unVqSwL-_Xk&feature=...

Wow. Scary. It's a real shame that all of his supporters didn't do their homework...

He's also said, "Through perverse court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the elitist, secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that religion must be driven from public view. The justification is always that someone, somewhere, might possibly be offended or feel uncomfortable living in the midst of a largely Christian society, so all must yield to the fragile sensibilities of the few. The ultimate goal of the anti-religious elites is to transform America into a completely secular nation, a nation that is legally and culturally biased against Christianity....Knowing this, the secularists wage an ongoing war against religion, chipping away bit by bit at our nation’s Christian heritage. Christmas itself may soon be a casualty of that war."

Ron Paul is a dangerous enemy of the Constitution. He has it wrong on the Separation of Church and State, and a woman's right to choose. He would reverse Roe v. Wade if allowed. He also supports school-vouchers, which allows private religious schools to enjoy the support of the government and takes money away from public schools. Sounds like a church-state to me. I don't want my taxes being used to pay from someone else's religious education. If church schools wish to exist, that is fine with me, but let them support themselves and stop living off of unconstitutional government hand outs.

If he claims to want to get government out of our personal lives and off of our backs, and claims to support the Constitution, then why does he not support a woman's right to choose? It is guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. Ron Paul simply wishes to take our rights away and increase government control over some of the most personal parts of our lives.

He also opposes gay rights and would allow states to discriminate against homosexuals. Either we should all have rights or none of us should have rights at all.

It is a shame so many people have had the wool pulled over their eyes...Wasted votes.
  • Ron Paul served us well in the debates by asking the Republican hypocrites the questions that they couldn't answer. If he ran as an independent he would take some votes away from the republicans.
He could do to McCain what Nader did to Al Gore in 2000.

  • I have seen all of your youtube videos and its not even close what you are saying. With evolution question He sad that ether one of side is not scientifically proved. Other thing he is talking for Creator as a god. As one God for all of us, Not just a Christians or Muslims or Jews or ....God or creator as he calls is everybody's.

I think we should celebrate Christmas,Hunnika,Aid,Ramadan,Kwanza......
or at least have them in calendar.

I think, they both mean the best for our country and our future Americans.

  • Ron Paul is a Loser, as well as Obama. White America will not give the election to Obama for these reasons 1) He belongs to a Church who is INFACT racist, 'No whites allowed(FACT), and a Minister who is infact a down right Racist, and a threat to race relations in America because of his assnine remarks against America(FACT) 2) Obama's Bussiness Partner in Chicago will infact bring to light Obama's bussiness dealings with the Indicted Partner in Federal Court, this Month , AND ALL OF AMERICA will see him as he really is , a Slum lord who didn't give a damn about his own People in Chicago, just so he collected his rents 3) It doesn't matter that ALL Black America votes for him , HE will never be President , that is FACT!! White and Hispanic, voters have had enough of the same old lame speeches of change, what change Obama , having a black President (?????????????????) 4) A first term Senator , will never get it , because , he has no proven experience in politics, and all of Oprahs dirty money won't and can't buy the Election!!!!!!!!!! 5) America will not allow the rights of Voters of the States of Florida , and Michigan, which is against the Bill of Rights, AND THE CONSTITUITION of the United States of America , and will be allowed by the 10th of June 2008, and that Folks will (Super Deligates ) will put Hillary in front of Obama for good !!FACT!!!!! And Oprah , good try, but not even you can buy an Election of the United States, Try Africa, you have a better chance there since that is where you do your bussiness dealings any way!!!!

  • Colonial_Zombie, this "Ron Tard" has certainly done more than his fair share of homework. And I accept Dr. Paul regardless of his religious beliefs as much as I accept your right to disagree with him. The other three candidates also claim to be religious but that is hardly a reason to assume that they are incapable of performing the required duties of the presidency. Dr. Paul is very much a libertarian. A conservative leaning libertarian, but a libertarian nonetheless. Like you, I disagree with Paul's interpretation of separation of church and state and his views on pro-life as defending liberty. But taken as a whole he has an unerring stance on foreign policy, economics and civil liberties. In fact, he has probably written more on economics than the other candidates have read.

Your interpretation of Dr. Paul's proposed educational voucher program is off the mark. It is essentially a tax credit of $5000 per student for parents to choose how to educate their own children and includes a tax credit for our underpaid teachers. Competition amongst schools is a good thing, fostering incentives for better academic programs at lower costs. The consequence that some schools might be parochial simply solves the unending battle of parents who disagree about school prayers, etc.

I'm not quite sure how you have come to the conclusion that Paul does not support gay rights. That is simply false. To be fair, he did vote against federal legislation to uphold gay couple adoption. He is all for same-sex marriage though. In fact, he thinks that government has no place in any kind of marriage whatsoever. I know that I don't need a government stamped piece of paper to validate my loving relationship. :-)

Thinking that Ron Paul wishes to "take our rights away from us and increase government control" is simply absurd. Don't despair fellow Pauliticians. A vote cast on principles is never wasted. Come to the REVOLUTION MARCH on July 12, 2008 to show Washington a real PATRIOT ACT!

  • I do not agree with Dr. Paul on his abortion issues. But on everything else he's spot on!

The media is what did him in. They virtually ignored him.

Did anyone see during one of those last Republican debates how John McCain treated him and spoke down to him like he did? I think McCain is an a-hole. We already have a few of those in the White House now and we surely don't need any more.

    Obama 08 (Not an a-hole.)

  • Good for Dr. Paul. He might want to consider shifting parties.

My guess is he would be a SEN. or GOV. for the DEMS.

    I like Obama/Graham right now.....

    If Graham could carry...

    both Florida and Seniors.

  • i can't see Paul going dem... they don't match up in their policies. He'll go independent during the general election, lose, and continue to try to change the Repub party until he retires. I'd like to see him do more though, he's changed this election already with his anti-war views.

  • He said that all three remaining candidates were bad choices from a constitutional standpoint but he said Obama was the lesser of the evils, thats hardly an endorsement.

  • I'll probably still write-in my vote for Ronn Paul, but now I'll give Obama a closer look...

  • First of all he is a loser, and second of all , he doesn't have a chance in hell of winning, and thirdly , it is politicians, or big corporate America( Pukes that hide as Libertarians(LIBS)but in actuallity are nothing more than , little rich Republicans that just have to have it THEIR way) (Fact remains his Family background is REPUBLICAN, so he can run,not as Republican , BUT A LIB!!!. So he shows up as a LIB) , their way , or its the highway , but in his case, he wants to throw off all Candidates , just like , the other Jackass from California (BIG MOUTH NADER, Time in, Time out, last 12 years!!!!),and the National Election. What gets me , Americans aren't thinking anymore. Change , What Change???? Gee , I've listened for 8 Months so far , and NOT ONCE HAVE I HEARD ANYTHING OF CHANGE SPOKEN, INFACT AMERICA, JUST LIKE BUSHWACKER HAVING 8 YEARS AGO < HE HAD A PLAN> OBAMA SPEAKING THE SAME OL LINE OF BULLSHIT !!! WHAT CHANGE?????? LETS HEAR THE FRIGGIN CHANGES YOU HAVE PLANNED FOR ALL OF US AMERICANS!!! GEE, THAT"S RIGHT < HE HAS A PLAN TOO!!!! The Perfect ticket would be , Clinton , EDWARDS, and you Know what , By June 10, 2008 , after Florida , and Michigan ,(DNC < MAY31, 2008 meeting) votes are AND WILL BE ALLOWED , this all comes to an end for OBAMA, he doesn't have ONE Major State, other than Illinois, she has Texas, New Mexico , Florida , Michigan, California , New York , Indiana, Virginia, Nevada, and Penn. >those are the Big ones, and the Supes , Obama's ship is over . And by the way Jackasses, I am not a racist, I'm not white, nor Black, I am an American , that smells the crap Obama' is shoveling. And it smells like crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
