Nearly 100 students at San Diego State arrested in drug bust

  • I remember when I was in college, one of the fraternities got busted for growing pot in the frat house basement. It was pretty scandalous at the time, but I guess not much has changed.

The only thing I have to say is how was all that was confiscated able to be brought into the campus unnoticed? I feel this is more of a school security issue than a drug issue.

  • Amazing how stupid some people can be.
Like they won't get caught for stupid texts like that.
  • Haha

I find it ironic that they some of them were going into homeland security or the justice department.

  • They called the sting "Operation Sudden Fall" - Who comes up with these names? I want their job.

  • This should tell you how expensive it is to go to COLLEGE. You gotta slang drugs to pay for books. I guess people will do anything for an education.

  • I went to high school with a kid who became a police officer, only to be busted a couple of years later for running a cocaine ring. It's kind of like pyromaniacs who become firemen, but in a more sinister way.

It's just sad that so many young people chose to risk ruining their lives for some cash.

  • Its only going to get worse, this stuff is getting to out of hand for some local cops to take care off, kids are getting smarter, and i think we need to look at them, rather than the school, there doing there job, you can't realy blame them

  • This bust illustrates the failure of the war on drugs. The longer we continue to criminalize harmless drugs like marijuana, we waste time, money and resources that could be better spent catching harmful drugs like cocaine and meth.

The sad thing is the people arrested today, are seemingly educated people who i bet aren't all bad people. I'm interested to find out what their punishments will be, i'm guessing it will effect their future in a dramatic way.

By criminalizing we create a blackmarket ones where people die because they're not educated about cocaine or people have guns to protect themselves from other dealers. I'm not necessarily for the legalization of drugs, but I wonder what the world would be like.

  • Midnight Devil, it would be pretty easy to throw that into a duffle bag. College campuses don't monitor their students' bags when they move in. Nor should they. However, maybe their drug education is not as good as it should be at their school. I know at MU, the education is what keeps this from happening at our school... not strict monitoring and prohibitory personnel.

What a biased article. They just say "overdose" to scare unwitting people into thinking that it is possible to overdose on marijuana.

However, upon careful research, one would find that this is nearly impossible.

    Kids are dumb though.

  • That's 96 more people that we have to pay for with our tax dollars to push through the legal system.

  • "Our children are our biggest asset and absent a safe, drug-free learning environment, their chances of succeeding are greatly diminished," Partridge said.

Oh, really? How does anyone manage to "succeed" in any college or university then?

  • By the way, according to the AP, the overdose mentioned was from cocaine, about a year ago.

  • As a SDSU alumni I know that this will have a serious impact on the party scene this weekend.

  • a couple of the kids involved were close to degrees. i guess that throws out the President of SDSU's comment about needing a drug free environment to succeed.....

  • I cant even say I'm surprised. I go to a Christian college now but I think its possible but difficult to find drugs there. I used to go to a public state school. Lets just say if I needed some drugs, I could've found them VERY easily.

  • meh. nothing new here.

  • i doubt this "bust" will have any impact on the drug scene on campus or deter others from selling. where there is money to be made people will be there to make it.

  • I guess I better tell my relatives at SDSU to watch their backs-I miss San Diego and need to get back there soon.

  • San Diego State is a known PARTY SCHOOL. Coming from someone who has plenty of friends who were in the frat and sorority system there, thats only the tip of the iceberg. My friend was the president of his frat and one of the biggest coke heads I know. And so many of the sorority girls use coke, meth and adderall to stay skinny....Its just the name of the game, most students know what they're getting into when they go to schools like SDSU, UCSB, Arizona state...its all party of the "college experience"

  • I live in San Diego, and frankly, I'm surprised how much trafficing goes completely unnoticed in this area. They might be trying to set an example, but its not going to make a dent. Party on!
