Surprised yet? Indiana went to Clinton, but the margin likely ended the race. As promised Hoosiers rendered a record turnout. More than 1.2 million. It was close, and when polled Hoosiers were up on the issues. Hoosiers weren't thrown by the gas tax. Believe me thats a big factor. A simmilar holiday won a popular governership in the nineties back when gas was still bellow two dollars. Indiana is known as the crossroads of America, and we have more interstate arteries than any other state. Billions in tourism dollars come from motorsports that are highly linked to the favors of car companies and long distance drivers. The fact that at the weakest point in Obama's campaign with a populist move such as the gas tax holiday Hoosiers weren't fooled speaks volumes and proves everything I told you all about them. A close but fair decision that bodes well for party unity despite the close decision. I think this is a win for everyone tonight.

well for all it's worth, if this race continues any longer, it won't matter who is nominated because the winner will be John McCain. Hillary Clinton should retire from the race if she wants her party to win. The fact that she's clinging on just prooves that the only thing that matters to her is to realize her personal ambitions. Overall, Obama is winning this and everybody knows it.

Me too Julie ($25) after his speech last night. I'm ready for the campaign to shift its attention over to McCain. The question is, will Clinton allow that to happen?

i guess Obama (unlike some) doesn't have 11 million of personal expendable income to use for his campaign.

Something to watch out for: stepped up "fear" mongering. The extreme right wingers have already started the "what will you do when the next attack comes?" ads. In Arizona there is nothing but conservative radio to listen to. New Mexico's not much better. The radio fear ads on 99.5 began today. Think the right-wing extremists are feeling threatened by Obama's victory? I take this as a VERY good sign that Obama will win in November!! I'm grateful to the North Carolina and Indiana voters for seeing through the cxxp and voting for change. The right-wingers that govern by fear will only pick up the pace between now and November. Their wildest "dream" would be another catastrophe so they could hope to control us with fear once again.

Hillary really needs to get the heck out of the race and stop thinking of herself and what SHE wants. It's time for her to step down and do the right thing for the USA, not for her own selfish reasons!

Clinton: overpowering woman with one thing in mind. power. you know that the reason she wants to get back into the white house is because, one, she would be the first female president. and two, she wants to be the successor of her husband in finishing the destruction of our country.

The thing I'm most excited about is that Barack Obama is encouraging so many african americans to vote in the south that there is the real possibility of the democrats carrying the south in the general election.

Obama had a clean sweep in NC and Indiana was a close race.I really really hope he is the next President.

Likely the turnout would have been around the same MM, though its specter and the fact that the two split the delegates evenly in the state, and he won more superdelegates from the state, it amounts to a greater loss in ther metric than if she'd lost but netted superdelegates. The spectre of operation chaos though probabmy nonexistant is something that certainly taints her victory and probably hurts her in both media perception and perception amongst super delegates.

It wasn't non existent here in Texas Ocanada. They crossed over in pretty good numbers. It was so obvious because the room was full of voters black and white talking about who they were supporting, and being friendly when the Republicans started filing in. They didn't attempt to join in, or even smile. One woman was even holding her coat tails in close to herself apparently so Democrat cooties wouldn't get on her. I positioned myself to watch and see who they voted for because they hung together. Here you just write in your candidate and voter registration card number out on sheets of paper in the open on tables. Every one I managed to see was for Hillary. It did make a difference here. Every Republican I personally know voted for Obama. I don't know any Limbaugh listening type people. We need to change our election laws, so there is no open primary, or Super Delegates. The election process should be uniform across the whole country. I will admit that I liked voting twice. I liked the caucus. But I wouldn't give up my paper ballot to do it.
