According to study in Britain, many people believe there is a hidden agenda behind the green movement.
Two thirds of Brits (67 per cent) believe the green agenda has been hijacked as a ploy to increase taxes.
Just over a third (34 per cent) believe that extreme weather is becoming more common but that it has nothing to do with global warming while one in 10 believe that climate change is a totally natural phenomenon...

I expect these beliefs will increase with time, and will be self-fulfilling.
We will be increasingly told by campaigners that our obesity and the energy we use make us all guilty of causing food shortages and climate change.
In turn, those that cause these problems will have to be taxed, because that's the only way our system knows of influencing behaviour.
Eventually we may all be subservient via tax to a global food water and and energy authority.-

I agree with the opinion that taxes are behind the current stance by the government on "green" issues, however as an environmental scientist, I know that there are a lot more pressing issues that are not as widely known or discussed. The current policy is improving and in the future much more is needed to prevent other forms of pollution, but these are being smokescreened by the government and media. There is also a business aspect to the policies where for the right price, businesses can secure contracts to gain exclusive rights to disposal of particular hazardous wastes. Sounds like a cover up to me...

Environmentalist agenda:
#1 Use global warming and peak oil to drive up the cost of oil, as they own oil stock.
#2 Sell carbon credits to get rich, then say they plant thousands of trees, but only plant one tree per thousand trees sold via carbon credits. This is like the middle-ages when people paid money to have their sins forgiven.
#3 Create many environmental blogs and web sites and collect advertising money from them.
#4 Collect money via carbon taxes as there is carbon in almost everything, food, fuel, water, air, etc.
#5 Use global warming as a bat to hit people with. Use it to attack the poor that cannot afford green technology or to change their lifestyle to a green one.-

I have wondered whey the 'go green' has been getting so much hype lately. I've been living green for a long time - so it seems strange that all of a sudden it's such a huge deal. Sun tax? Air tax?
