Change eye color, skin tone by popping a pill?

Image...
"Imagine going a gorgeous golden colour without having to bake for hours in the sun or use a fake tan. To make your skin colour change chemically, all you would need to do is pop a pill or apply a cream.

You may soon be able to alter your skin tone, and maybe even your eye colour, as easily and as often as you dye your hair but with a lot less mess — while protecting your skin from sun damage and cancer."

What will this golden pill going to do to the liver?

I don't really get why people can't be happy with what they have. Besides, aren't there spray-on tans and color contacts for all of this?

lindaann, the pill isn't whats golden. Read that paragraph over again. Besides Peewong's right, people should be happy with what they have.

i wonder how many years until this gets linked to cancer...

well spray on tans could also be linked to cancer...I dont fully agree with allowing chemicals to sink into my skin...ultimately into my bloodstream...only to get filtered by my internal organs...you win some you lose some...you can either embrace technology, or reject it; You can either accept yourself or reject it (go point)

I guess the first place this will be distributed is Los Angeles...
I don't see a pill that alters your largest organ as a good thing.

so i totally see crime rates shooting up.
i would think people would be tempted knowing that their description could change with only a pill.

They can't find a cure for cancer, but they can create a pill that can change your genetics. Pretty fascinatin' stuff.

I had no problem with the artical untill it started taking a sharp racist twist..."black" people or anyone with any coloring in their skin for that matter, might be interested in something like this; its all PERSONAL preference on how you want to look or be portrayed on the outside...it doesn't neccesarily mean your trying to be someone else! If a person wants to make their skin darker or lighter because they like how it looks, I say go for it! There are just as many white people that want to be dark as there are dark people that want to be light. As far as this being an alternative to skin cancer (tanning outside or in a bed), I think its great and wouldn't mind trying it myself!

sounds as safe as the pill that cuts a woman's menstrual cycle down to only a couple of times a year.

This is the problem I have with pharmaceuticals. As long as it provides the intended result we are unconcerned with any other sideffects.

Oh Boy!! I'll just start taking it along with ALL the analgesic, antacid, anti-anxiety, anti-arrhythmic, anti-bacterial, antibiotic, anticoagulant, thrombolytic, anti-convulsant, antidepressant, anti-diarrheal, anti-emetic, anti-fungal, anti-histamine, anti-hypertensive, anti-inflammatory, anti-neoplastic, anti-pyretic, antivirals, barbiturate, beta-blocker, bronchodilator, cold remedy, corticosteroid, cough suppressant, cytotoxic, decongestant, diuretic, expectorant, hypoglycemic, immunosuppressive, laxative, bullet-muscle relaxant, sedative, sex hormone, sleep, anti-psychotic, and vitamin pills that "I" take. Come on people if we have a pill for EVERYTHING that can effect us, for better or for worse, don't you think that the consequences of us using these medication whenever we "need" to could, no, WOULD be devistating or possibly fatal?

(I'm being sarcastic when I talk about me taking all these different med's.)

A Black Bill O' Reilly! I don't know why, but that reminds me of Franklin the Puppet from Arrested Development.

    You know, Gob's puppet?

Initially, I thought this sounded very cool. I still think it is, however the problem is that virtually all drugs are toxic to some degree, and as Eli Lilly once said, "a drug without side effects is no drug at all."

Ha, word uroborus8. I want everyone who says racism doesn't exist or isn't a problem any more to put that theory to the test for a week. 20 bucks says they break after 2 days...

In addition to the side-effects that will most likely be associated with this pill, I've never been vain enough to care about things like that.

There are more important medical discoveries to be made, cures for diseases to be found. We shouldn't be wasting our time and energy on vanity medicines.
