It may seem like a fear rooted in Cold War paranoia, but with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) sniffing around the Middle East, North Korea and other parts of the world for hidden enrichment facilities and smuggled radioactive materials, the threat of an atomic bomb hitting a major city is a harsh reality.
If your city is the target of a nuclear attack, you'll need to do more than duck and cover. Between the sheer destructive force of the blast and the horrors of fallout, the odds of survival can be depressingly slim. Here's a list of tips to beat the odds of this oft-feared doomsday scenario.

If there were a nuclear blast why would you want to be the one to survive? If you live after the blast you will die a horrible death from radiation poisoning. I'd rather blissfully get burnt to a crisp in a millisecond sending me straight to Valhalla.

For my survival planning, I assume a ground level blast of 10 kilotons, an average "suitcase nuke," if such a thing even exists. That sort of thing gives you a window of survival as long as you're not right next to it. With any kind of megaton blast you're toast anyway.
Peace and good luck,

What ever happen to hiding under your desk?
-
The best way to survive a blast is to be NOWHERE near it.

Wow, fantastic link there baron. Really informative.
We're more screwed that I thought we would be. ._. -
Nonsense! All you need to do is hide underneath your desk, preferably made out of wood.

Yes, great link. It's important to survive so we can starve en masse! We've put so much invention into potential destruction - so there it is. We are inventive! But can we please apply it to survival?
