Now the wonders of Web 2.0 and portable navigation systems can use motorists' tips and Microsoft Virtual Earth to help keep you from appearing on your local police department's version of candid camera. It's a lot more effective than relying on a bleating radar detector.

Let's see how soon that gets taken off the market...

this is a contribution to the balance we always get with law enforcement technology. Just like the early radar detectors. Sure some states might outlaw the use of these types of systems but there's always going to be a way around police monitoring. This is why we need to support things like opensource technology and Net Neutrality.

This particular feature is nice..not sure how long it will last...One thing that i must note while using Microsoft Virtual Earth is that the "birds eye" view is very close to private areas and very recent. Basically it shows most of my backyard fairly clearly, how many and what color cars i own.... I must say though that the SDK http://dev.live.com/virtualearth/sdk/) loads ridiculously fast and so far is much better looking than that of Google. A disappointment for me as I am far from a Microsoft FanBOY but nonetheless.
