He has publicly urged Republicans to vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton to keep the divisive Democratic nomination fight alive, but talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday he really wants Sen. Barack Obama to be the party's nominee.
"I now believe he would be the weakest of the Democrat nominees," Limbaugh, among the most powerful voices in conservative radio, said on his program. "I now urge the Democrat superdelegates to make your mind up and publicly go for Obama."
"Barack Obama has shown he cannot get the votes Democrats need to win -- blue-collar, working-class people," Limbaugh said. "He can get effete snobs, he can get wealthy academics, he can get the young, and he can get the black vote, but Democrats do not win with that."

God I hate Limbaugh, but when he's right, he's right. Just look at the election results for the last 40 years.
-
Well, from what I understand Oregon is Obama Land. It is the Timber Capitol of the World. Logger's and mill workers are not in the effete snobs group. They are hard working blue collar workers, and they aren't stupid. Explain to me why they get it. Personally I think as things bump along more and more working people are getting it.

Agreed MM. And he could be unintentionally helping Obama - the more people get to know what Obama stands for the more votes he will get. I can't get my head around the possibility of the republicans getting voted back into the Presidency. Just won't happen this time.
-
Just look at history. Democrats lose with far left candidates, McGovern, Dukakis, Kerry. They have success with moderates, Carter (relatively, he was going against Ted Kennedy in the primary), Clinton, Gore (arguably). It's just not in the cards for Obama.
-
Does anyone still listen to Rush? I can't imagine whatever is left of his audience has the intelligence to fill out a ballot.
-
Isn't what Rushbo is doing here prosecutable election tampering? Furthermore, why would anyone with full reign on his faculties listen to this dope fiend and follow his election advice anyway?

Yes Rage along with inciting rioting. There are a lot of Rush-clones out there though and unfortunately they vote.
-
Reverse psychology much Rush? Of course he wants Hillary to win the nominee because she would do none of the necessary things to change this country from the corporate controlled mess that it has become. Whether or not Obama can actually spark the change he espouses will remain to be seen, but another 4 years of Washington insider politics and a possible president that characterizes her foreign dimplomacy with promises of ":oblitierating Iran", would have me considering a permenant change of residency.
-
JohnA, care to explain?
Do you know what far left is? Jimmy Carter and Al Gore are much further left than any of the "far left" candidates you just mentioned. Christ, Kerry was hardly even a Democrat. The only "left" opinions he had were ending the war and balancing the budget. If anything the man WAS a centrist, which is why he got picked over someone like Howard Dean. Perhaps your definition of far left is just not far right.
When a candidate comes out and says he's going to make oil a public institution, then he's far left. When he comes out and says 50% income taxes on those with $400,000+ incomes, that's far left. When a candidate comes out and says he's going to make college free and enforce stricter labor laws than France, THEN he's far left.
Not that labels matter AT ALL, of course. But most Americans seem content with name calling these days. -
Aka Obama gets the vote that is probably not only the most important (since it's the voice of tomorrow), and most educated (which will hopefully lead us to get our country out of the knee deep crap it's in). Our politcal system is worthless that those votes aren't the ones that get someone elected. That's why we are in the trouble we are in, and our economy is swirling down the toilet. You're right Rush...let's keep giving you rich fat ass tax breaks and run our country into the ground. How can people listen to this terd?
-
Rush goes as the wind blows like a spineless candy wrapper. Although it does take a LOT of wind to set him aloft '-)

Rush Limbaugh has also urged riots in Denver

As I said, relatively speaking, Carter ran against Ted Kennedy in the primarys, both he and Gore were considered the more moderate choices at the time they were nominated. Senator Obama has a far left voting record, the farthest in the Senate by some sources. I agree partually about Kerry, Dean was the extreme, but Kerry was left of his running mate and runner up Edwards. And he was the dreaded "MA Democrat". Perception is everything. Just my opinion, best of luck to Obama, but pardon me if I don't put any money on him.

"Boy painting this fence is the most FUN I've ever had. I hope no one tries to steal my paint brush and paint it for me!" -- Tom Swayer.
Anyone else over the age of 12 falling for Rush's bullshit?
Well, I mean anyone who isn't already a die hard Hillary supporter.
Hillary and Obama are essentially the same is all major areas. They do differ in personality, team building and general leadership ability though.
We might prefer one Dem candidate over another -- but they are both pretty much the same is overal direction, I think.
Obama is a Red Delicious apple.
Hillary is a Granny Smith apple (much more tart!)
And John McCain is a steaming shit sandwich.
Picking between two kinds of apples is just a matter of taste -- thus it boggles my mind that there are Hillary supporters out there who insist that they will eat an entire shit sandwich (McCain) rather than vote for Obama!
Um, how is that an acceptable 2nd choice?
"Dang nabbit!" bemoans a defeated Hillary supporter. "Dat there Obama feller got the nomination instead of my girl Hillary! Well, I really wanted a Granny Smith apple but I guess eating this warm shit sandwich makes more sense than -- yuk! -- eating a Red Delicious apple!"
Is it me or does that logic sound kind of....insane? -
Don't you think that if Hilary would quickly get behind Obama, or if Obama were to choose the right running mate (John Edwards!!) these working class voters could be swayed.
Rush just wants to further confuse the Super Delegates who have yet to get behind Obama. It's reverse psychology on the political playground.-

MSNBC did an interesting study on Tuesday night that profiled the vote of Republicans in the Indiana primary. Despite Limbaugh's urging to vote for Clinton, barely over half of them actually did.
Moderate Republicans are voting Obama because they see him as a man of character, as a strong leader, and someone who will make good decisions. As for the rest, there's simply not enough people who will do what Rush Limbaugh says to make a difference.
There may have never been a greater waste of oxygen than the air taken in for Rush Limbaugh to speak.-

I hope Limbaugh comes back as a blind, poor, minority woman in his next life and gets to live next door to a pompous idiot just like he is in his present life. Gotta love the concept of Karma..
-
This is all spin. Research the candidates yourself and vote for the candidate you think is best. Anyone who "urges" you to vote for someone is probably not doing so with your best interests in mind.

I'll just bet that Rod Parsley, John Hagee, Paula White and God only knows how many other "prophets of profit" love Rush like a chubby, snotty little step-son who won't shut up, even if he gets that last piece of cake. He's preaching to his own choir and, consequently, just doesn't matter anymore.
-
Hey...A vote for Obama, is a vote for Obama. It's good enough for me.

Rush should be happy to have a democratic president, that would ensure he would have plenty of news to bitch about for the next four years.

He's just doing this because he knows it's inevitable that Obama will win at this rate, and trying to convince delegates he's a weak canidate. The fact is the people who listen to this old windbag aren't the people he wants to address. I highly doubt that he will sway any votes in the other direction, and this is a huge case of a right-wing pundit pulling out all the stops to ensure Obama does not win. Get used to this tactic, it's going to become popular for them in the following months, but that's also a sign of them running out of ideas.
If Obama wins the nomination, he stands a good chance at winning the election.-

Look at the electorial college map from 2000 and 2004. Who can influence it for a win in November? Clinton can pick up Arkansas, Florida, and Ohio. Obama loses Michigan and Pennsylvania. He can't win in November, she can.
-
Rush and his Oxycontin inspired speeches, jeeze!
I think that most blue collar whites will come to their senses when gas hits $5 gallon, the American Dollar is equal to $.25 of the Canadian, innocent citizens are sent to Guantanamo Bay, and health care will be for the rich only. Poor people keep voting for a big stick up their butt.
People need to vote for the principles of justice, balance, anti-war, and their own interests, and not on their prejudice, besides Obama is half white, so you're voting against yourself AND against your economic interests. Swallow that, ya blue collar fools. Duped again by gay marriage will we?! Obama is a secret Muslim, he don't wear the flag, he knows Mr. Wright. All these emotional but irrelevant and fake notions. Sadly if you think Obama is anti-American, you don't deserve to vote, don't meet the "minimal" requirements by lack of basic knowledge, and are easily swayed by the wind, bullshit, and Republican Slime Machine.
Cheers!-

JohnA:
Well, by the looks of things, she won't. McCain's record is his worst enemy against Obama, that and the overwhelming momentum he will have coming out of the final stretch of this nomination process. I doubt McCain will waltz into the Oval Office without cheating, people are sick of Republicans. Why do you think so many people have changed parties?
People are becoming more and more aware of the corruption running rampant in the LOCAL levels of the Republican party. Do you really think they will vote for McCain?
Face it, the Republican party ripped "we the people" off. Twice. Now we(the 79% of Americans who disapprove of the job Bush is doing) are pissed and they aren't going to let it happen again no matter how many fools vote for McCain.-

If hating George Bush was the only criteria, we would be voting to re-elect President John Kerry this year. I do want to beat the Republicans, he can't do it.
-
Blue collar workers wanted the gas tax holiday. They could care less about economist or projections, they wanted action, now, do something even if it's short term, at least someone is doing something. When gas hits $5 they will remember Obama refused to cut taxes.
-
Rush Limbaugh could get fucked by a chainsaw for all I care. He's an obese firebreathing beast that continues to spew the foul stench that is right wing bullshit. Him and Ann Coulter will undoubtedly conceive the antichrist or the devil himself. I am not even religious and this seems like a real possibility to me.
In the words of the Ayatollah, "All those against the revolution must disappear and quickly be executed". Haha, not really, but it's a cool quote. -
Totally unrelated, but Michelle Pfeiffer is so f'ing hot in Batman Returns, she makes the movie (I just so happen to be watching, well listening to the movie as I type). I'm a queer and she got my whistle blowing. *toot toot* Oh no I didn't. Fuck, I am a queer.
-
JohnA:
You seem to ignore the effect Bush has had on the republican party, and how McCain supports him. That will effect him negatively in this campaign since it will associate him with arguably the worst president in the history of the United States. If you REALLY wanted to beat the Republicans, you would do your research on the election and expose the lies they always tell. All I've seen you do is attack Obama.
P.S.- I am a "blue-collar worker", and I don't want reduced gas taxes that will downgrade roads even more, or some gas holiday crap. Just lower the price of gasoline. How many BILLIONS do the oil companies have to make before I stop paying 4 to 6 bucks a gallon?
Either that, or tell them to stop regulating the automotive industry against cleaner burning and combustion-free transportation.-

On May 10th, Barack Obama is launching Vote for Change, an unprecedented 50-state voter registration and mobilization drive. More than 100 events will be held across the country that day. Obama volunteers will register new voters as the start of a six-month voter registration drive.
We can change Washington if more Americans get involved, get registered and show up to vote on November 4th. If millions of new voters get involved, a powerful message will be sent to the special interests that dominate the old politics. This is an important time to find more people in your community to register to vote.
Recent voter registration drives have registered more than 200,000 new Democrats in Pennsylvania, more than 165,000 new Democrats in North Carolina, and more than 150,000 new Democrats in Indiana. Those numbers just scratch the surface of what's possible
This means that Obama can be quite electable with newly registered democrats nation wide!
