Before we continue assuming that 2008 is full of firsts for women and African-Americans, remember the Frederick Douglass was Virginia Woohull's running mate back in 1872.

If you research Virginia Woohull, you'll find that she was 34 in 1872, you have to be 35 or older to become president. Virginia turned 35 in 1873, so technically it was illegal for her to run for president, but she still did.
