Russia has ordered the expulsion of two military attaches from the American embassy in Moscow, US officials say.
The US state department said it would comply with the order although it objected to it.
Two Russians have been expelled from Washington in recent months, one in November and the second on 22 April.
The news comes as Russia conducts a transition of power with Vladimir Putin becoming prime minister and Dmitry Medvedev president.
The expulsion order was given some days ago but was only revealed by the state department on Thursday.

Our reputation is so tarnished now, we may not see it return for generations to come, or never.

Who cares what Russia's government thinks of us. They're not exactly a staple of integrity or freedom. Do you not see the consolidation of power in Russia? Putin named the guy he wanted as successor and guess what? He won by a huge margin, coincidence? Not to mention the crackdown on journalists and newspapers.

And we are? a staple of integrity and freedom (to be the biggest arms dealer in the world, to wipe out any country we are afraid of, to allow money to be printed out of thin air, to show pride and egotism.)
What country do you live in?
By the way, we expelled to of theirs (Russia's).
