I really liked this pod, and Craig's character is one of the most interesting I've come across. He seems so lonely and yet so redeemed and comforted by magic, and there's something really honest about him, which is ironic considering his job requires deception. Way to go!

I really like this. Great job! It really captures who this guy is--genuine, humble, and just really loves magic. It drew me in as it went along, so that I was really happy for him and his new store by the end of the piece.
I love the shot of the kids' expressions at the show as well =)-

Although I think magicians are really con men - this was a great portrait piece. Really nice shots and use of music. sign me up for some hand buzzers!

The consistency of the edit gives this piece a nice personality of its own, reflecting the character also. I almost like having no music going on throughout, it makes a very realistic sensibility, again like the character. There is not really a conflict in the piece besides a mention of him being a "loner" and what the new shop should look like. I like the still shots, how it works much better online, but what other movement do you think you could have incorporated? Great work, I would consider it an original piece of art with such wonderful aesthetics.

I agree with jdchristianson, the lack of music during the piece goes along with his quiet personality. Craig is a great character to watch. There is something really endearing about him and every time Craig grins you can't help but crack a smile yourself.

This is a very tender and layered character portrait and makes for a great subject for a pod. Some notes though: I'm not crazy about the editing in the beginning. There could be fewer shots and you'd have the same effect. Also, as soon as he starts talking, he mentions the word "magic shop" and you cut to quick tilt up to a sign that says "Magic Shop" -- not sure if that's necessary. It's clear you did multiple interviews with Craig (which is great), but it's a little distracting when you cut from footage of him from different days, as the change of shirts becomes very noticeable. Some audio mixing to do, but overall nice work.

I think the magic show at the end is really important to this piece. It's the point where we see an entirely different Craig; we really understand at this point why he loves magic and why he's done it for so long. The pod builds up his relationship to magic so much and the success of the move and the magic show really give this piece a feel good ending, and mercifully so since before the end we aren't sure if Craig is truly happy or not. Great character development.

I like the music choice, and the character is developed nicely. Excellent storytelling!
