Who needs gas?? Top off your car with sugar and tequila

Time to stock up on that Patron. Not for you, you big lush, but for the latest in green technology. According to C/Net, all you need is $9,995, and you can have your own ethanol creating "fuel pump". The EFuel100 MicroFueler is suppose to be able to create up to 35 gallons of ethanol a week. All you need is to connect it to a power and water source, add sugar and yeast or discarded alcohol. Sounds easy enough, but don't fault me for being a sceptic, but hey if you have 10,000, give it a try and keep me posted. For now just check out the link....

  • If it's that easy to produce Ethanol, don't you think that would be the US major fuel source by now? I think in the long run it will be more expensive than going to the gas station. Your water and electric bill will shoot through the roof. Alcohol is expensive (although i don't really know why anyone would waste alcohol like that...) And I'm assuming you're going to need a butt-load of sugar and yeast (which typically aren't so cheep)...so, F that.

OH, in addition, you have to buy a car that will run on pure ethanol.

But if you don't care about the price and want your car to be good for the environment-go for it! (...OR you could just ride a freaking bike!)

  • Would that mean my car would get a DUI if I was pulled over by the cops?

  • I dont think it will take off, it doents make too much sense to buy the machine, then get a car that runs on ethanol and then pay for the raw materials and then pay for the cost of running the machine. I mean who has that much money to do it. And even if you do as far as I know ethanol cars dont get as much mpg as hybrids. So if you are that rich Im pretty sure you are smart enough to know that its better and cheaper to buy hybrid; a Prius for example.

  • so where do I put this thing? How much is this going to increase my electric bill? Somethings gotta give.

  • i hope this doesn't take off. the last thing we need is a worldwide tequila shortage.

one tequila... two tequila... three tequila... floor!

    rosarito here i come.

  • Its about time that I get my very own fuel pump. Thanks raheims for the info.

  • How about these car makers use the current technology to make a real hybrid vehicle? 100 mpg sounds really good to me.

  • you're paying subsidies to the sugar growers and manufacturers, and then you have to buy the sugar.

you're paying taxes on the alcohol... and it's not too cheap nowadays, is it...

then $10k for the box on the wall, plus some power to run it? where's the power coming from? coal? nukes? you gotta love THAT, don't you?

work it out in DOLLARS PER MILE versus gasoline and then wonder why we're not drilling the crap out of every source we can find that WE OWN HERE....

    duh!

  • More drunken cars!

  • $9,995.00, sugar, yeast, alcahol. It's so simple.

    Don't forget the magic.

  • Producing ethanol is really easy. You can easyli make your own wine by mixing fruts, yeast and sugar...

To have pure ethanol, you need to distill it.
  • I'd rather have a drunken car than a drunk driver huntre.

A sober man can look after a drunk man....

  • Who needs to go anywhere when you've got sugar and tequila?

  • This would be great if the carbon footprint was a feasable total, but here you have land producing food for a car not people. Think about it! With atleast 2000 people a day starving to death around the globe do you want this as an alternative for gas hungry America? Let's really look at hydrogen alternative fuel as a sustainable resource ready to be developed with virtually no carbon footprint on the planet, it can be generated right out of the air leaving more land available for food production. Just a thought, but hey, if you want to spend ten grand to by 8.00 a pound sugar to create your own fuel, i won't stop you, besides what alcohol consumer ever has left over alchohol?

  • Left over alcohol, now thats a novel idea...

  • Ivxx,
I'm with you, just give me the tequila and sugar, you can have your 10,000 sludge maker.

  • You do realise gas prices in America are half those of the rest of the world?
