Humane Society reports cattle abuses

The Human Society reports cattle abuses in several states at auction houses. Animals who are clearly to sick to be sold or used, are left to languish in pain while potentially infecting other cows who may be used in our food source. The Humane Society is asking congress to act.

Humane Society reports cattle abuses

  • Thank God for the humane society - inexcusable.

  • why are these cows unable to walk? are they being malnourished?

definitely there needs to be supervision of these animals and more humane treatment. this is very disheartening.

  • Killing and eating them is disheartening too.

  • killing and eating them is not as disheartening as knowing they've been mistreated and neglected.

I can live with eating meat (sparingly) as long as it's free-range and "certified humane"

  • And to think that Oprah was sued for her comment about never eating beef again. Switch to a more sustainable protein source - grains and beans, and help end such cruelty.

  • some cows are injected with hormones to milk 360 days of the year, as apposed to after they give birth. their calfs and themselves have troubles with their immune systems, and if they survive the injections of antibiotics....we get to consume it all...i hope we don't have bad reactions to vet antibiotics, or higher doses of cow hormones...becasue i drink milk, and ...i eat beef.

  • No surprise! We humans hurt, torture, and destroy ourselves, environment, people around us, and other species. We are this planet's #1 problem. We are no different then overpopulated rats!

Many animals are raised just for food, they would not exist otherwise. We make them so sick by feeding them unnatural feed, likecorn, that its' actually a favor to slaughter them, cuase they are in pain, but DON'T BEAT, ABOUSE, HIT, AND DISRESPECT the animals, they have feelings, feel pain, and alive just like us. Humanely putting them down is the LEAST we can do, and not eating them at all, is the next step.

There are many sadistic people out there, I DO NOT wish mankind well! It's only a matter of time before something like bird flu (cause our Asian friends eat EVERYTHING), Ebola, Aids, or a more powerful species from space, puts an end to us. We deserve it.
  • wessa, you cant say that with 100% conviction and still want to live. I'm tired of hearing people liken the human race to a cancer or a rabid marsupial infestation. It doesnt have to be that way, and when you start changing yourself with true intention and modifiying your behaviors within the framework of mutual respect and sustainable aspirations, you become one less cancerous cell.
our lives are not unnatural, they are simply maladapted. nature is always modifying its technologies... its simply time that we do so as well.

there ARE redeemable qualities to humanity. I know sometimes they seem like 1 in 100, but I think a cultural reprogramming is possible and necessary in order that we increase our sensitivity, empathy, and individual knowledge of the processes by which everything comes into and out of our lives.

We certainly DO deserve to be wiped out if we sleep through the alarm bells.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if many of these poor creatures have bovine spongiform encephalopathy.

  • It is disheartening. It correlates with my previous pod about the Westland/Hallmark Meat company:

  • bullet in the head, no more sick cows. cremate them and be done with it

  • ;-) Vierotchka - okay, what is bovine spongiform encephalopathy? From the sound of it I may have had my very last steak.

  • This is the tip of the iceburg, as the amount of cruelty that has manifested itself in meat and most dairy production is mind boggling.

We gave up meat and animal products years back due to the abuses that the animals suffer.

It amazes me what these greedy owners will inflict on another lifeform for their own profit.

  • They better respond. For goodness sakes, they're going to be food or going to produce milk, why abuse them? This is like the chicken thing. Why the hell would you do that to an animal that's going to give us food? Honestly, people, think! What if someone left you to die of a disease? Grow a heart, society.
  • This has been going on for years and it seems that the Humane Society has only just now gotten around to addressing it. The reason their legs give out is usually due to rapid weight gain and growth caused by the hormones they're given in order to produce more milk.
