Mother's Day is a bigger deal to Michelle Duggar than most Moms.
The 41-year-old Arkansas woman is pregnant with her 18th child. Duggar says she is due on New Year's Day. The latest addition to the family will join seven sisters and 10 brothers, all of whose names start with the letter J.
The Duggars' oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months.
The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in northwest Arkansas in a 650-square-metre home.
Duggar and her husband, Jim Bob, say they plan to keep having children as long as God wills it.
Duggar has been pregnant for more than 11 years of her life, and the family is in the process of filming another series for Discovery Health.

she must have a flappy you know what
-
"you know what" hehheh I believe it's called a vagina. There's no harm in calling it what it is. :)
-
18!!!!! Can you imagine feeding 18 kids?
-
Add four more to this picture to update it.
I feel so bad for those kids. How can one possibly have a good relationship with their parents when you have SEVENTEEN other children vying for their attention? -
amazing!

'CCashman', That's a hilarious poster.

Wow, this is sad. Overpopulation choking the world of it's resources (coupled with greed) and there are families having almost 20 children . . .

This is irresponsible. Our planet is overcrowded now. We use 25% more natural resources every year than the planet is capable or replenishing. Overpopulation is a crisis now.recommended by JanforGore
-
Sad, is not the thing to be LarissaDistler68c and cCashman. ur mother spit u out wit no problem so whats wrong wit a family of 20. God put this family together for a reason and the only thing that we can do is pray that the following kids will be as strong and healthy as the rest. So my God continue to bless the Duggar family
-
hsyblac:
God put this family together? I do believe a lack of contraception and an abundance of sex had a bit more to do with it. -
Irresponsible selfish people.

So whats ur excuse for being here? Was u a mistake waiting to happen or did God put u here to say whats right or wrong.
-
How having kids make them selfish and irresponsible aborting kids is where those terms come in to play ur generation was not selfish and irresposible when ur family was in the process of being made
-
This story might be a good posterchild for global warming.
Hi, we're the Overpopulated Humans.
It's time to start making laws around this. or at the very least, "let the market take care of it" and give people tax incentives to have less children.-

Oh look, it's the Stepford family with yet another offspring. *shudders*
-
they have the will and the money to support the family, at least their not sucking up the social services like some of our immigrant friends who have 5 kids. Who go to the emergency room for a cough. Last year in dallas i think they soaked up around 30million dollars in free health care. Oh and my taxes went up imagine that.
-
I don't think these people are being selfish I think they have certain beliefs that encourage lack of contraception, etc. I have watched the Discovery Health programs on this family and they are resourceful and responsible people. Would I have 18 kids? Never. But at least they are not driving multiple cars, building multiple million dollar houses and spending hours in a jumbo jet like many celebrities these days.

This never would have happened in China. I'm going to start a petition to have these people stop making babies...I will update everyone when it is available.

Economy stimulation check =
$1200 + ($300*18) = $6600

i dont think that there is anything wrong with them, infact i cant believe that some people are even giving oppinions about these peoples lives. cmon leave them alone to do what they chose. thats all we have left of america is choice. even that is diminishing down to nothing. why cant people just be left alone to live. for crying out loud they are not terrorists os anything.

I don't feel this family is selfish. As a matter of fact it takes quite a bit of you to raise a child. And if you were to learn about this family you would find that waste is not a habit in their household. As I matter of fact I have found the bigger the family the less waste you are allowed. Also in response to building a relationship with the parents I can speak from my own extended family's upbringing. My dad is 3rd youngest of 16. He loved his parents and they loved him. Each of the chidlren had their own personality and was treated as such. They were also at different levels so the types of realtionships they required were very different from one another. Besides there could be things like people dying from incurrable diseases, a rise in poverty and the lack of a support systems for our chidlren that could take up media attention but that would not be so interesting I guess.

This is not China, so they can do whatever they want. As long as they're [everybody in the family] happy about it. Besides, they are the ones that's gonna have to face the fact that they probably bumped up the population by some percent. We can all sit here and say, "oh how irresponsible... this is not good.. this planet is overpopulated" but we can't really stop this couple from doing what they like to do. They've already had their kids and it's not like they can put them back up into her vagina. That wouldn't be a pretty picture.

it's not really irresponsible. i'm sure that the world population is the last thing on their minds.
it is a little weird. it's obvious that they're religious to whichever denomination.
it's kinda weird that all of the names start with J.
i've seen the discovery specials on this family. im sure they mean well. i just wonder how the kids will develop. i feel like they take care of each other more than the parents take care of them...only b/c there are too many.

See what happens when you believe that sex is only for reproduction.
-
I read about this a few months ago. Me and a co-worker came to the same conclusion that in this world of over population, food shortage, where no new land is available to us, having so many kids is absolutely senseless! Maybe if the family were farmers but 'ol "Jim Bob" is a real estate agent and Michelle has made being knocked up her full time occupation.
-
Is there milk left for the 18th child?
Wow! Wow! The wear and tear in the womb, though all the kids look pretty.
The Duggars ought to slow down some...even mice take breaks, I guess -
who wouldn't wanna have intercourse nonstop with a guy named JIM BOB!!?

Isn't this what freedom is all about? That family wants 20 kids, that's their choice. Isn't that called 'freedom of choice"? I do wonder how she feeds them though!
-
clayjj05
They can 'tighten' vaginas surgically and do it after the woman gives birth. Her husband seems happy. -
I don't know what to think. They are free to do what they want, of course. If a huge family is what they want, then that's what they'll do.
On the other hand I just think they should consider overpopulation. I know they don't mean any harm, but I just think they need to be more aware.
And I think they are selfish in a way.
Everyone who chooses to have a kid does it for them self, not for the kid they're going to have. They're doing this because THEY WANTED A BIG FAMILY. Without regard to the world and overpopulation and the state of their surroundings. They're not selfish in regard to the kids, because I'm sure they love them and treat them accordingly.
I just don't think anyone should stop them, I just disagree. If they wanted a big family they could have adopted, but oh well.-

Oh man Idiocracy was awesome! It was so stupid is was funny and creepily insightful... I wanna kid named Frito-Lay =) j/k
Really I just think this is so sad. If people can't see past religion to the real natural world we live in, and keep this kind of reckless reproduction up, which they will, we will all soon be more fossils in the earth's crust, testimony to how the frivolous don't last long...
I'm sure this family is respectable and hey, if that whole family actually farmed for a living they could feed themselves and then some, but overall it is our instinct to reproduce and the fact that we have no natural predators except ourselves that will be the end of us. -
Dang, "Clay" why don't you just say what we were all thinking....
Thats is great though.....good for them all. -
I am supportive...the birth rate in developed nations is going down, so all you people whining about overpopulation have your sights on the wrong target. Many first-world women forgo having children in favor of career, or start thinking about having a child too late and then can't conceive. This woman had her 18th at 41! She is a fertile mama! Bless her and all her little and big ones. And while I'm at it, bless all of you, too, my Current children...

We as a civilization have to start considering conservation in everything we do globally. Maybe overpopulation doesn't cross this woman's mind, but that's why there need to be rules in place.
I dont care what country this cow is from, she's birthing too many pip squeaks.
She has a HUMMER of a family.-

For more on the Duggars, and the controversy surrounding their family "choice." May the debate continue ...
-
OK lady, this can't be good for your body! But more power to you!
-
I thought for sure they must be Mormons, until I went to their family website. They are Christians and at the top of their page they have a Psalm that says "Children are our heritage."
These people definitely do not believe in birth control! -
ummm, way too many kids. The parents must have thought they had the best genes on the planet.
-
Yes, in my opinion it's disgusting and irresponsible
but who are we saying what this family should or should not do? Maybe they are contributing to the overpopulation of humans, but most of us aren't doing anything else to stop global warming. Just sitting around criticizing other people.-

I've known families like this. Back in Pennsylvania where I grew up, there was a family that had 10 kids. The mother had her last when she 47 and it almost killed her. She has tons of health problems that are directly related to her being pregnant for a great deal of her life, but her husband won't let her be treated in a hospital. And her children (or the ones that I got to know) were plaid wearing, TV shunning, home schooled individuals, who were extremely maladjusted when it came to talking to people.
That of course is one case.
I am Christian and the way I see God is that he gave us free will. I want to have a child someday and I will CHOOSE to have that child. Did people complete forget about free will? God gives us choices and these people chose to have 18 children. They also choose to deal with the consequences. So let them do what they want. It's not humanities place to judge. Only God can judge purely and without bias. So I regress.-

Personnally i find this story disturbing, for gods sake use a condom, youre not Angelina & Brad Pitt!
It seems to me that people who intentionally build large families like this, have misunderstood the term "Be Fruitful and Multiple!" Not that i believe in a law being made of only so many children born to a family, but to the fact that maybe these ppl should have thought about adopting 17 of the 18 children in the world who are dying, being abused, come from drug families who need a family with so much love to offer, instead of adding more children to the world.-

I think that perhaps they didn't adopt any children, because adopted children are harder to brainwash than natural born children. They seem like the kind of parents who must have total control over their children's minds and beliefs.

ok so i love reading all of your opinions. they are all so completely different and all of them right except, the onlyr eason our over population is such a huge problem is because we don't use our resources properly. There are an abundance of ever growing resources on this planet. I just wish we all would get over ourselves.

I used to think that our resources were distributed improperly as well, but then I changed my mind as I learned more about the world.
We do have a huge distribution problem, that I can't disagree with, though.-
