North Country Leader, Healthcare Advocate McLeod Endorses Senator Clinton for President
    NH Support Continues to Grow

FRANCONIA, NH -- Prominent Franconia legislator and healthcare advocate State Representative Martha McLeod today announced her decision to endorse Senator Hillary Clinton for President.

"Senator Clinton has the wisdom, passion and commitment to children and families that will make her a great President," said McLeod. "She has made healthcare a priority throughout her career as an attorney, First Lady, and United States Senator, and I know she will continue to do so when she is President."

McLeod, who was a prominent supporter of John Edwards in 2003, is currently the Executive Director of the North Country Health Consortium in Littleton, NH, serves on the Board of the New Hampshire Health Plan and is the Chair of the New Hampshire Rural Development Council.

She was first elected to the New Hampshire House in 2004. Her previous professional experiences include her service as the Center Director for the Northern New Hampshire Area Health Education Center, as a Nutrition Coordinator with the State of New Hampshire's Division of Public Health and as the Assistant Director of the Rockingham Community Action Program, Women, Infants and Children Program.

"I am thrilled and honored to have Martha's support," said Senator Clinton. "We share a common passion and commitment to providing quality healthcare to working families. I look forward to having her on my campaign and to having her with me when I return to the North Country to talk with families about my plan to insure every child and ensure access to quality, affordable healthcare to all Americans."

Rep. McLeod joined Sen. Clinton at her New Hampshire campaign kick-off event on February 10 in Berlin, NH. Three hundred people packed Berlin's City Hall and 200 people filled an overflow room across the street to capacity. It's the first time in recent memory that a presidential candidate has kicked off a campaign in the North Country and has drawn a crowd this size.

Clinton's decision to kick off her New Hampshire campaign in Berlin reflects her commitment to running a strong campaign in the Granite State. It's also a metaphor for the kind of national campaign she'd run as the Democratic nominee in 2008: Just as she will visit every corner of New Hampshire, she'll campaign in communities throughout the country.

    American Nurses Association Endorses Clinton

The Clinton campaign today announced the endorsement of the American Nurses Association (ANA). The ANA represents the interests of the nation’s 2.9 million registered nurses.

"I am honored to have the support of the American Nurses Association," said Clinton. "We owe nurses a great debt of gratitude for the critical role they play every day in providing quality care. As President, I will continue to support efforts to attract and retain qualified nurses, especially in rural and urban areas, and to improve working conditions. I look forward to working with America’s nurses to deliver affordable, quality health care to every American."

Hillary has a history of working for America’s nurses. In the Senate, Hillary introduced the Nursing Education and Quality of Care Act, which would expand the number of programs that address nursing faculty shortages and increase the supply of nurses in rural areas. As part of the Nurse Reinvestment Act, she helped create grants that expanded nurse Magnet hospitals. Hillary also supported increased funding for both Title VII and Title VIII, which help to address the higher education needs of nurses and nursing faculty. Finally, she has supported programs to attract nurses to the field, including efforts to improve the quality of the working environment for nurses.

Hillary’s American Health Choices Plan will cover all Americans and improve health care by providing consumers new choices, lowering costs and improving quality. Under Hillary’s plan, Americans who like the insurance they have can keep it and stay with their doctor. But Americans who don’t like the coverage they have will be able to pick from the same set of plans Members of Congress choose for themselves. Under Hillary’s plan, insurance companies won’t be able to deny people coverage for a pre-existing condition and tax credits will ensure that working families never have to pay more than a limited percentage of their income for quality health care. People who change jobs will be able to keep their health care.

ANA has been making presidential endorsements since 1984. The endorsement process includes sending a questionnaire on nursing and health care issues to all of the Democratic and Republican candidates, an invitation to all of the Democratic and Republican candidates for a personal interview and an online survey of ANA’s membership regarding which candidate is most supportive of nursing’s agenda.

ALL THESE Endorsements Are For Hillary From people who know about health care.

And also Medicare does not work, I don't know no where you got this video put I can tell you from experience something you do not have on this issue and neither does Obama. He lacks that on a lot of issues. He only has 3 1/2 years experience he should be a Dept Store clerk.
Hillary has over 20 years experience. I'm on Medicare and it does not work.
Don't even talk top me about Co Pays. Hillary's Plan is one that does not exclude anyone.

    Obama's plan does.

Keep wishing. A candidate has to have 2209 delegates to win the nomination not 2025 and he has again started to screw up because he thinks he has won.
He has to remember Hillary's been there before so has President Clinton do not under estimate them. And the Fact that the DNC Rules are on their side.
Remember 2209 not 2025 like the Media wants you to beleive and there is 50 states that vote not 48. And no party can stop a state from having the right to vote it is in the Constitution of th United States don't believe me check for yourself.
You really don't think Hillary is campaigning for the hell of it DO YOU!

This plan is better than Hillary's. It cuts the for profit insurance companies out and no one will attach your check if you can't afford it. Plus the majority of the doctors are for it. It is HR 676 aready sitting there ready to be discussed and passed.

Single Payer All The Way....That is What I Say.

Thanks Marilynn for sharing this vid with me. I liked how they had Obama as a paper doll. Not saying anything back to her question.

I think it was like a lets wait and see if they really deliver kind of video. It wasn't meant as an attack on Obama, more like a wake up call.

    HR676 is a shadow bill,
it is a bill used to hide another bill that will cost he tax payers $895,000,000,000 and you do not know all of it.

There is more to that then meets the eye. Obama is involved in getting it pasted so it will send money to Africa. You need to seroiusly read the whole bill.

And as far as Health Care I can tell you about it because I'm on Medicare and I receive Disability.

And you do not know what it is like to live pay check to pay check. Obama does not know either he has never had to Hillary has had hard times so don't even tell me about Health Care You want to vote for a person that will cut out Health Care for more then 160,000,000 Americans that is what he said. Hillary started the Universal Heath Care back in 1995 and tried to get it pasted but we had a Republican Congress and Senate majority now things can get done with Hillary in the White House she knows how to do it Obama does not know what to do to. This is a mile stone with a Democratic majority in the Congress and the Senate. She will be able to and you want someone that does not know what he is doing.

This bill will cost this country My Grandchildren there grandchildren and there grandchildren and there's will still be paying it off. You better read this bill.

It will end Social Security Medicare and any Health Care in this country.

Researchers at Indiana University, in a study of randomly chosen physicians representing the total population of U.S. physicians across all specialties, found a shift in the thinking over the past five years. Now a solid majority of doctors, almost 60 percent, support government legislation to establish NHI -- a 10 percent increase in support since 2002.

I am not a Republican, but I know a good sounding bill when I see one. HR676 promises to deliver what Hillary was talking about since 1995. I don't get why you have a problem with it.

Not providing affordable health insurance to all Americans is Un-American.

We can spend 3 Trillion Dollars on a war of preemption we can surely spend 1 Trillion Dollars for health care since we are on this spending spree, might as well include the poor.

As I understand it HR 676 is the same coverage afforded to our legislators. I think it's fair to ask "if they can have it, why can't we?"

All it takes is 4 trillion dollars!

How Much Would a Single-Payer System Cost?
The financial viability of a single-payer system has been analyzed time and again by researchers both from the U.S. government and independent consulting firms. Each time the conclusion is the same: single-payer saves enough on wasteful paperwork to provide high quality health coverage to all and contain future health spending. This paper catalogs the analyses of proposed single-payer systems at both the federal and state levels.

The problems at the VA Hospitals are lack of funding. Ask the Bush Administration about that. Tell me, do you see a stack of old people not being treated when you go to the doctor? No, they go through just like everyone else, and Medicare pays the bill.

    Well-researched once again, MM!

While all three candidates have recently been receiving campaign funding from the Insurance lobby through K Street operatives and private initiatives, Obama remains the one who MIGHT just say to K street, "I had my fingers crossed, you thieves. Now, you are going to pay for your treachery."

I hope any victory is accompanied by wholesale election of non-incumbents and that public campaign financing or a complete moratorium on ALL contributions is replaced by pay for congress people that simply covers their expenses and gives them a good salary but denies, without exception, their ability to accept ANYTHING from ANYBODY.

    Thanks, MM!

In Texas, we have a long-observed local holiday commemorating the date Texas slaves got word of the Emancipation Proclamation. The lack of news and newspapers that reported "Union" news stories during the civil war, made Lincoln's declaration take almost two full years longer to reach blacks in Texas.

Perhaps, the sickout will dovetail into a chance to celebrate and publicize both issues at traditional "Juneteenth" celebrations and activities.

I think one post says June 9th and June 19th (aka Juneteenth in Texas) in another.
