Have you ever wondered who gets those crazy storm videos you see on TV and why they do it? Meet David Hogg, he's been storm chasing since he was 16 and just recently went pro in Jan 08 storm chasing for KSBI in Oklahoma City.
This is version 1.0 (5/10/08)
(I'm not wild about the ending so that part will probably change in the next cut)

Nice pat. The ending needs work. But I like it because I myself work as a storm chaser in Illinois. Your characters got their message across and informed about their crazy job that is very important to people. Good job, would've been cool to get a tornado on camera haha, we all do.

Yeah, getting a tornado became an obsession for me, and it seemed like mother nature was getting a kick out of putting tornadoes just south of his station's range in Texas and far East into Arkansas, but not in the ol' reliable Western Oklahoma until May 1st when I wasn't riding with him and I actually ended up kind of being chased by the tornado.

This seems like a pod that takes alot of patience to make. Good job in sticking with it. If you had encountered a tornado, that would have made for a nice climactic rise in the story line. To see perhaps the driver hop out of the car and take photos or get some excitement going. The weather is just too unpredictable to make it into a hollywood movie short tho.

White people are crazy! Just kidding... but really, you guys are crazy. Awesome subject, awesome pod. Make me feel like I'm not living.

Cool pod pat! I was excited to see how this would look. Storm chasers are the people you know are out there but you don't know much about them. As for the ending I would focus on him more than the storm. Maybe have the storm in purcell open the pod?

Very cool... it serves as a reminder that storm chasers have an important role with meteorologists and the NWS and aren't just thrill seekers. Great characters and good footage. Too bad you couldn't catch a funnel cloud, even in the distance - but I agree it does have a bit of an abrupt ending. How do these guys feel when you get the adrenaline rush and it seems like a tornado is coming, but then the storm fizzles out?

Pat, this a great topic for a pod. Yes, it would have been amazing to actually be chasing a tornado, but there's still a story here. I think it would be wise to move the emphasis away from the storm and toward David. Right now the video reads as if it were leading to this ultimate showdown, and if you leave it this way the viewer will only be disappointed at the ending. If you make it more about David though, I feel like it still has a shot. There's a lot of information about his character in there already, but not a lot of visuals of him. It seems like you had a formal interview with him, but we don't get to see any of that footage (if that's what you actually did). Maybe making it more like a day-in-the-life type piece could work too -- sometimes there are storms, sometimes not. Anyway, I hope you keep working on it, because there's a lot of potential here.

It sucks that the "weather man" gets all the credit...not the actual storm chasers.
Great pod!-

Good work, that is really close to home for me. Literally, you were about two blocks away from my house in some of those shots.

you never see the storm chasers on tv...sometimes you hear their voice. great job. see if you can tweak the ending a bit. it just abruptly stops...

It's a shame we couldn't have taped this in May. In the last week I've seen two tornadoes, several funnels, over a dozen rotating wall clouds, and have driven over 2,000 miles while still staying in Oklahoma or the Texas panhandle. It's been a bit of a stressfull week. Luckily though, no deaths, only a couple of very minor injuries, and really only sporadic damage here (unfortunately, they haven't been as lucky to our north).
