What do any of them have to do with music. One of them can't even be in a studio to hear a full song... our sad pop culture...

Hasn't Rolling Stone mag always been sh*tty? I mean come on, didn't these subscribers stop when they put Britney, Clay Aiken, Gisele Bündchen, or Zac Efron on the cover?
Even the film "Almost Famous" made fun of RS, which I'm sure was some kind of jab from Cameron Crowe at how the mag was back in the 70s. I'm sure the only time this mag has been reputable was it's early, EARLY beginnings.
Those comments were truly priceless, not just because Rolling Stone's most loving subscribers are now pulling out but because the subscribers are finally disillusioned. It's about time they got with the program! -
ooooh hooo hooo
like, OMG, who the fuckin cares?
RS got their ass whooped!!
they've got some pissed off readers-

It's pretty sad that a lot of our age's companies that have a solid niche are separating from their roots.

OMG! The Hills were, like, so TOOOOOOTALLY over with even before it got started! Why is, like, MTV even giving it, like, any airtime? It's just a waste! And Rolling Stone puts them on the cover? That's, like, SO uncool!
(By the way, all sarcasm is intentional.) -
Seems that traditional press publications are increasingly trying to using an ironic stance to engage with with trash-media. Why?
Maybe they perceive that the public has a growing fascination with empty celebrity reporting and want in on the action? Maybe magazine sales are at an all time low, and they are DESPERATE?
Well, I find it pretty bad-taste that they can't be honest enough fully admit to this desire to dumb-down; and are using supposedly ironic pretensions to excuse their actions.
Maybe now they'll realise that their reader's aren't interested in cheap shots, and they'll start to put some thought into their content? Adapt or die.
End of rant. -
I'm glad to see that RS readers are unanimously condemning the once-awesome magazine for shoving the Romain Noodles of culture down their readers' throats.
MTV is culture cancer, and it no longer has jack sh*t to do with music (obviously).
With all the incredibly talented and varied musicians and composers out there that get no air time simply because they do not fit in with MTV's narrow, vapid, tasteless ideals, RS should be standing against them, should be rising above that ridiculous facade.
It wouldn't be very f*cking hard, and it would be doing a hell of a lot of good for the generation of 14-year-old dolts that MTV seems hellbent on raising up to be doltish, empty adults.
Shame. -
The only thing worth reading is RS nowadays are the political articles by Matt Taibbi...and you can read those for free online.
Read Alternative Press or Paste if you want music info. -
Hmm... why are we surprised?... Music on Mtv is scarce.. Its just a bunch of reality shows... wait, is it an excuse to spend more time with our moms...hmm, Mtv brings families together..

What is happening!! Since when was RS this lame? Take the trash back to the can. This issue of the magazine and the people on the cover belong there.

So, "The Hills" is a reality show about a $25,000-a-night escort service?
-
First it was Laguna Beach (Which sucked) now it's The Hills (Which sucked harder) will the madness ever stop??!
-
Rolling Stones readers would rather hear about American Idol!
Fools -
RS, Mtv, The Hills...all poison. If you watch the Hills, you deserve to be sent to Siberia.

I'm glad they got ripped to shreds over this. RS has gone from king of he music mags to court jester in a fortnight.

Rolling Stone magazine has bent to trends before and, sadly, will again. It's not their fault. The youth culture has changed considerably since the "Me Decade" left it's damage and RS is trying to stay on top of the resulting pursuit of all things material, superficial and simple-minded. We made "The Hills" worthy of the cover story. Not the magazine's staff.
-
i agree huntre. what's so bad is that people actually like watching this crap. what is america's obsession with watching snotty superficial rich kids? and what's worse is these shows get syndicated to other countries. i've actually watched 'rich girls' from a brazilian slum. embarrassing.
-
When I was about 11, I thought this magazine rocked. 10 years later, I wonder how anyone could read this magazine unless they are that age or under.

this country is going to shit. Current, don't cover these stupid reality tv whore bags
-
i've never really been a fan of rolling stone, so this doesn't surprise me one bit. rolling stone has a lot of talented writers who's time goes to waste because of ridiculous pop culture standards. if you want to read a good music periodical, then check out skyskraper!

I honestly didn't know who the Hills were, or what it was. Until I saw this cover in the magazine stand recently at my local library.
-
I was surprised to see Britney in The Atlantic, if you know what I mean. -
And you wonder why people think Rock is dead.
