he's a great artist, and deserves nothing less than having a spider named after him.

Check out this wiki list of all sorts of creepy crawlies named after famous people.
I quite like the funky mite called Funkotriplogynium iagobadius (iago = James; badius = Brown).
And the Anophthalmus hitleri, a blind cave beetle, named as a dedication to the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. "The dedication did not go unnoticed by the Führer, who sent Scheibel a letter, as well as 53,000 Jewish baby skulls, showing his gratitude." Nice.
Perhaps most amusing, though, are Agathidium bushi, Agathidium cheneyi, and Agathidium rumsfeldi, three species of round fungus beetles named after Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld. According to the entomologists, the naming of the beetles was done in homage to the political figures. Other namesakes for species in the genus Agathidium include Darth Vader and Pocahontas.
I love scientific humour. -
So what's the name?
-
It's all down to the person doing the naming, there's loads of 'em stalking about in the rain forest finding new insects.
My friend's dad is one of them, he named one Anagyrus Jenniferae after her.
Claim to fame or what. -
Surely if you are going to name a spider after a musician it should be named after a drummer.

Check out the man in action at a BBC Studios session back in '71. A performance deserved of a spider being named after you...
