The first Muslim mayor in the Humber region will be sworn in on Wednesday.
The Current Mayor of North Lincolnshire, Tony Ellerby, will be replaced by Councillor Jawaid Ishaq MBE, 62 at ceremony at the Plowright Theatre in Scunthorpe.
Mr Ishaq making history...
In 2002 Mr Ishaq made history by organising the Queen's first visit to a British mosque at the Islamic Centre in Scunthorpe.
He said at the time: "We invited her not knowing whether we'd be turned down or not. But she agreed to visit and she chose Scunthorpe."
