A tanker loaded with enough water fill about "8 Olympic sized pools" will be in operation for more that 3 months to provide water for more than 5.5 million people, contributing to 6% of their daily consumption of water.
This has been one of Barcelona's worst droughts in over 60 years. City fountains and showers at beaches have been turned off, lawns can't be watered, and pools must be filled with recycled water.
The article quotes the federation's secretary general Miguel Angel Fraile saying, "You can understand a boat bringing water to an island, but not to a continent."
