President John Kennedy,in one of his most memorable speeches, spoke and warned our nation of the dangers of secret societies and the shadow government. In doing so,he was fearless. It cost him his life. So where are today ? Are we as a people as fearless as he was,or was his death in vain, because today people are afraid to speak up or speak out, or is it because most of mainstream media has been bought and sold, and just become a big propaganda machine we choose to listen to and believe ,in fear of reprisal and being called "unpatriotic" ?
I believe that everyone, candidates and voters, should be required to watch this film, atleast the first part where he is warning us as a nation of what the consequences were for us,if we didn't take a moral inventory of ourselves, collectively. I believe that the same questions should be ask to all candidates for office and not just the presidency of the United States.
Once a candidate takes office, does he now really have the ability to establish change, or is there a perpetrator that is woven so deep within, that he has no power his own, and he is now simply just ready a script ?
It frighten my wife to death that I write articles like this, I cannot help it .I was a third grader in Clovis,New Mexico, coming in from lunch break when the teacher sat us down and told the classroom of his assasination. I was terrified. I didn't understand the meaning behind it.Years later, when Dr.King and his brother Bobby were killed, I began to understand, but it only made me angry. This election has evoked those memories, because history is being made right before our very own with Senator Barack Obama. This is not to say that he can fill the shoes of either three of these men, but his platform is about change, and if he is true to his platform, how much changed is possible from the oval office and how much of a possibility is change from us as a people? With so much to change, where do we start ? Some of us don't want change, because we really believe that it will cost to much of ourselves to make it better for everybody. That's the part that frightens me the most. If it does not affect me, then why should I vote for change ?

  • There is no video link to this article.
  • I stand corrected.
  • Great post! A relevant and timeless speech forgotten in the dialectic which Kennedy warns against. Thank you for sharing.

In regards to Obama's approach to "change", even a speech, similar to Kennedy's above, may act as a catalyst to evoking positive and progressive reform within our country's boarders. All any person in such a position needs to do is lead towards a just end and the people will follow. Even the tyrannical powers of the British Empire could not cease the revolution of the 13 colonies.
  • I don't know since they assassinated him. And still today those who are members of Skull And Bones and other societies endorse all of our candidates including Obama. So what do we do?

  • One death is poor justification to end one's quest for justice. Although people soon pass, ideas live on.

Thomas Paine even warns within his marvelous gift, Common Sense,

"Here then is the origin and rise of government; namely, a mode rendered necessary by the inability of moral virtue to govern the world; here too is the design and end of government, viz. Freedom and security. And however our eyes may be dazzled with show, or our ears deceived by sound; however prejudice may warp our wills, or interest darken our understanding, the simple voice of nature and reason will say, 'tis right."

Leaders are not just displayed on your television sets, they sit on the couches and chairs of your collective living rooms, on the corner of the streets waiting for the bus, at the tables in the cafeteria, trapped within the confines of cubicles; collective apathy leads to collective disillusion. A society designed on the predicate of secular humanism must not forget the power and breadth of the meaning of those words.

  • JFK was more on point than Nostradamus was ,in terms of prophecy of what it would be like today. That s my concren with these secret societies.Just how far woven into the fabric of government and the media are they? We know that corporate America doesn't give a damn about anything but profit.
Would JFK stood by and watched corporate A merica outsource the lifeblood of this great nation right out of the backdoor and across the street to anybody who would do the job for less ?

  • the remaining candidates running for president of the US of A should ask questions regarding secret societies, and if any of them belong to them, not if they exist.

  • Both encouraging and discouraging, "greater coverage... greater understanding of the news..."

We need more leaders that are willing to speak coherently for five minutes on real issues. That is why so many of us wax nostalgic over JFK, RFK, MLK Jr., FDR and even old Abe Lincoln. I suppose I am preaching to the converted since you are reading and watching current.com...

Lets all get back to understanding and contributing to the solution.... YEAHH.

  • UMMMM This is NOT one speech but statements lifted from several speeches edited together. Thus the overall message is NOT Kennedy's but that of who ever took the time to edit the snippets together...

For example the start of this recording is some 20 sentences away from the original start of the 1961 speech to the American Newspaper Publishers Association. Then there's an edit at 1:36- the edited recording jumps past 11 sentences and then continues for a few then switching to yet another speech.

Here is some of what was removed:

"But I do ask every publisher, every editor, and every newsman in the nation to reexamine his own standards, and to recognize the nature of our country's peril. In time of war, the government and the press have customarily joined in an effort based largely on self-discipline, to prevent unauthorized disclosures to the enemy. In time of "clear and present danger," the courts have held that even the privileged rights of the First Amendment must yield to the public's need for national security.

Today no war has been declared--and however fierce the struggle may be, it may never be declared in the traditional fashion. Our way of life is under attack. Those who make themselves our enemy are advancing around the globe. The survival of our friends is in danger. And yet no war has been declared, no borders have been crossed by marching troops, no missiles have been fired.

If the press is awaiting a declaration of war before it imposes the self-discipline of combat conditions, then I can only say that no war ever posed a greater threat to our security. If you are awaiting a finding of "clear and present danger," then I can only say that the danger has never been more clear and its presence has never been more imminent.

It requires a change in outlook, a change in tactics, a change in missions--by the government, by the people, by every businessman or labor leader, and by every newspaper. "-----

In fact if you listen closely to the first three words in the recording- "ladies and gentlemen"- you can HEAR how different it sounds(use headphones), but more importantly the words are out of place as even an introduction...

Beware of CONSPIRACY theories based on false evidence...

  • JanForGore - you seem not to have an integrity meter to evaluate the various candidates with.

Obama has integrity. He talks about integrity. It's clear it means something to him. McCain and Hillary only mimic him when it appears necessary to their personal ambitions.

Hillary is soooo into the game, I seriously question her judgement and motivations - and for very good reason also. Her ambition isn't for America, but for herself.

McCain - always wanted a daddy. He's got one now, the younger George Bush he so wishes he could be like. McCain doesn't have the perspective nor wisdom to win a dog fight (I mean a literal dog fight) - is it any wonder he became a POW?

A Vote for McCain is a Vote to make the United States of America a prisoner of war!!

  • great pod keithponder. Its crazy to think that there are so many secret societys today that are controling are media, freedom, social change between other contries, and REVOLUTION that needs to happen if there's ever to be Peace on Earth.

  • This is a great speech, although the title of this post is VERY misleading. I think it needs to be changed- maybe to "Kennedy Warned Against a Society of Secrecy" if you really want to stay true to the original text.

  • There are some groups that aren't so secret that we should be concerned about. The FBI and CIA. Don't ever forget that George H. W, Bush used to head the CIA. They get into way too much and are responsible for way too much that people are not aware of. Who runs those shows? How is it that they can set up drug trafficking to pay for some of their operations and try to assassinate other countries leaders? Or I believe our own? Obama had a huge rally in Dallas. Toward the end of the letting the people in to be seated the Dallas police got orders to stop checking for weapons from the Secret Service. Why? Remember this right before JFK was shot the Secret Service got orders to fall back away from his car. If I were Obama there is no way in Hell Clinton would be my VP. I'd ask John Edwards. That is the best life insurance policy he could have. They hate Edwards more than him.
  • How refreshing to listen to an intelectual President that can actually give a speech without sounding like he is reading from a script. He used so many words in this speech that bush can't even spell, muchless understand.

  • Absolutely! If more Americans took the time to research what’s happening around us instead of getting all their news from the same elitist controlled propaganda, then maybe these secret societies and Federal Reserve Banks wouldn’t be running our Gov’t. We think we live in a democracy… this goes back to our for fathers who fought for our independents they were opposed to the federal reserve banks that’s one of the reason for the revolution Thomas Jefferson showing that our founding fathers knew this banking principle very well made this statement "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies...." "Already they have raised up a money aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power (of money)," he said, "Should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs." The American Revolution was a struggle to wrest control of wealth from the Bank of England and to restore the centers of power to the People where it "properly belongs." The Constitution is specific about the authority of the People, through their elected officials, to control the money, and thus, the affairs of their government.( "The Most Secret Science", Betsy Ross Press,)

P.S The guy above is right... this Isn't Kennedy but the underlining message is important!
    chanaeva
  • That's right. How refreshing it is to hear Kennedy.

Marilynn, Bush Sr. was only head of the CIA for about 6 months, but it exposes the fact that those connected / behind the Bush family is pulling strings at the CIA and obviously the FBI as well.

  • KennyJ,

    Good catch,

"Its only inches on the real to real".

When you edit this stuff you should be honest and open about it otherwise the conspiracy theorist are open to charges of conspiracy.

  • Thanks for the post, Keith. He must have been among the rarest and finest of leaders. I can't even imagine a man today who would demand that the press criticize him when criticism was due, in the higher interests of a fully informed public.

  • 1st of all i liked this post. 2nd OBAMA OR NADA. current needs to go ahead and have at least an hour segment of pods dedicated to the xposure of secret societys. Or at least a segment exposing the Federal Income Tax. One of the biggest bull shit scams that all americans are victims to. No where is it written that you have t pay taxes nor has the IRS ever given proper proof that you have to. They get Americans hard earned dollars off of fear and intimidation. Thats just what mob bosses use to do with their racketering systems back in the day! But like keith ponder said were all preaching to those who have all ready been converted especially since were online members. So we should have a segment on T.V. especially since thats what i have majority of the people that i talk to about current i tell the to check it out on T.V. 1st. to just seriously watch it and be open to what your viewing.

  • Taxes and the IRS are the Least of our problems.
  • Compelling and pertinent to our times.. Well done.

  • Incredibly prophetic. Here we hear the eerily prophetic words of the last Great American President-I challenge anyone to defy that statement. The Bush Administration has abused the Bill of Rights and the Constitution as so much toilet paper and tampon material. According to this Administration, "he", that is, the inept Bush Jr., is the "decider". Nay! We the People "is" THE DECIDER-it is written in the blood of the Minutemen, in that of the Founders, in the crack in the Liberty Bell, in the blood of soldiers in the sands of Normandy, the mud of Khe Sanh, the deserts of North Africa, the frozen wastes of Korea, and the islands leading to Japan, sir-NAY, you are the elected to SERVE We the People, not US TO SERVE YOU. JFK, however many his human faults, knew this. If hubris was a cancer, you Bush Jr. would be not so well off even after many surgeries and chemotherapy. This is a nation By The People and For The People-you have treated the USA and the globe itself as your own personal game of Risk-with us, our children and our children's children to carry the tab-not to mention the fact that we pay into a national retirement system which is already bankrupt and which we will never see benefits from. You have, in a mere 8 years, taken all the great work of EVERY President since Washington on behalf of this great Nation and flushed it down the sewer. The Illuminati, the Trilateral Commission, the Saudis, The Skull & Bones, the Bin Laden Family, The Bilderburg Group, the top 1% American Blue Bloods-the all SALUTE YOU: by contrast, We the People mentioned in the Constitution DEPLORE YOU AND DETEST YOU. Just leave already, you and your accursed GOP. They say, "Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely" and nobody in the history of the world has proved that axiom more correct than this corrupt Administration, as well as its Party. I said: GOOD DAY.
  • P.S.-

I absolutely shivver and SHUDDER to think what would have happened had the Bush Administration been at the helm during the Cuban Missile Crisis. It would be a very different world now, if there was a world left at all.
