A Virtual Recession

People really need to unplug occasionaly.

Well, speaking as a virtual person, I feel threatened by this. Perhaps, I should travel the phonelines to a stronger economy.

Well weird.

So strange to have universities and businesses from the real world setting up shop in virtual markets. I guess I don't get how it can be successful, but people who are involved seem to have a confidence with it. Bizarre.

If the economy crashes people wont be hanging around in front of their computer. They will probably be in a bread line.

I'm sorry, but all this hubbub about Second life is ridiculous. Second Life is a huge joke on the internet, TRUST ME. For some reason it got out that people dumped some cash into this world and now companies are jumping all over it thinking they will make some money, they won't. Second Life is full of griefers and sexual deviants.

I have a theory about video game users. Especially because I was once an incessant video game user myself(Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, haha etc etc).

I don't understand why people chastize those who have chosen to make the virtual world an extension of their real world, or even the whole of their existence. If people stopped and thought about it, they'd realize that people aren't given as much power over their lives as we'd like to believe. People aren't allotted the same opportunities in life.

Some people can go to California, or Spain, with the snap of a finger. Some people can go on an adventure at the blink of an eye. But everyone doesn't have that opportunity.

As a former game junkie myself, I think that people are simply living their dreams in the virtual world. It's easy to be "somebody" and "make it" in the virtual world. Even with all of your hard work in the "real world", that doesn't guarantee you're going to make it. And sadly, most people don't.

Imagine if *you're* stuck in the same old boring place, and have a dead end job, and no chance of escape, ever. Virtual escape would be your escape, too.

I don't think it's such a big deal. It's very understandable.

Virtual reality may not be real...But in some cases it's the closest most people will ever get to achieving their dream. Even if it's just to be "somebody", be "famous", "known", "recognized". It's the reason people play games like Guitar Hero . And as a musician I know how frustrated that can get, when people play that game endlessly, as if they really are "rock stars" . But everyone can't do everything, be everything they want to be. Not everyone has that money or that time.

this was interesting cos i go on SL and i started without putting any money onto the game and i hav made some money (something like 600L$) i dont think i will withdraw it cos im young but it feels good having acheived that.
