With XCPV technology (extreme concentrated photovoltaics), it is possible to produce large amounts of electricity from solar radiation at a whole sale price of US $0.05 / kWh

"Solar power at 5 cents per kWh would be a world-changing breakthrough. It would make solar generation of electricity as affordable as generation from coal, natural gas or other non-renewable sources, without requiring any subsidy."
Craig Goodman, President / National Energy Marketers Association

Can i hear a, "whoo-ooooo!" ??

Sunrgi was founded on the goal to create a renewable energy source that would be available at fossil fuel prices. an incredibly important endeavor, I'm eager to hear more about them and their technology.

  • Well, no we can finally build huge solar farms in Africa cheaply :)

  • From this point on new houses should have different options of renewable energy. Builders can provide option of solar, geo-thermal, or wind, and only offer other energy options (the current ones) as a backup - not alternative.

  • we better get this going.... we've wasted enough time.

  • I hope this is going to happen since so many of the best ideas don't become reality. This is so needed right now!

  • Awesome!!!! We've got to consider electromagnetism as a source of energy as well.

  • Only until big OIL buys it out

  • The sooner that we embrace clean energy the better. We are lacking in incentives for cleaner energy, hence why we are dealing with 'catch-up'.

The main solar cell manufacturers in Michigan export more than 85% of their product outside the US because countries such as Germany and the Netherlands offer tax incentives for purchase of the cells. Things need to change in the United States. We need to utilize the technology to make a difference, and be a part of the solution.
