PAXIL:
"The worst kind of hell imaginable. I was off of this drug for 4 months without a hint of relief from the withdrawl symptoms. I was scared for my life and at the same time wanted to die..... Furthermore, every doctor I saw told me that Paxil isn't addictive. **FRUSTRATION**"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am going to post a few of these drugs we are giving our families and their patient comments this week. These bad side effects are not few and far between as the drug companies want you to believe.
Please scroll down to the bottom of these pages. The good ratings on top are sometimes confusing.
When we discuss teens and others being screwed up we need to ask if it is us and our poor medical system who is screwing them up. Many of us are on cocktails of several of these dangerous drugs: Cold/allergy meds, depression, cholesterol,
Combine this with poor US diet, lacking essential nutrients.and you have a sure recipe for problems. This is NOT covered by the US Media because it is supported by the Pharmaceutical Industry including MSNBC and PBS now.

This is critical problem is crystal clear to me and has been increasingly for years...possibly because of my life experiences brought me to the problems so long ago.
I'm not sure why it takes the public so long to understand. This is very sad to me...cg

Here is the link to other reports on Askapatient.com
Let us ask ourselves what this is doing to our bodies including permanent injury and death.
Do we trust any medical system that is thriving under the Bush administration?

Thanks for this important post on the dangers of pharmaceutical drugs.
A major source of injury from pharmaceutical drugs is related to the fact that over 800 medicines include the neurotoxin cocktail aspartame (phenylalanine).
Tell us why this is interesting -
Thanks Carolyn. Very important stuff. I must send to a friend who is long time Paxil user.
-
...another concern I have is who is giving negative ratings to something so important as letting people know about this life and death information. It could just be someone who wants their friend to get better ratings but it also could be Industry Creeps who don't want people to know about this on TV.
There are seldom comments with these negative ratings I keep getting so quickly when I post these early in the morning..-

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy can work just as well in treating depression as antidepressants like Paxil, Zoloft and Prozac. Not all people do well on these drugs, but many millions are helped by them.
From the development of the first drug, Prozac, that apparently acted by keeping serotonin from being eliminated from the brain's synapses, it has been drummed into our heads that depression reflects a biochemical imbalance and that Paxil or another SSRI is the avenue to recovery.
According to a a professor at the University of Toronto department of psychiatry, "Massive marketing has depticted the challenge in depression as one of correcting a chemical imbalance in the brain." He says, "This may be true at the neural level, but we now know that there are multiple pathways to recovery, and a chemical imbalance itself can be restored in different ways."
Do a Google search for Zindel Segal or "Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy" for information.
For the record: I have personally taken anti-depressant drugs and they have helped me greatly.-

Hi Julie.
Thanks for the information. Great to hear from you.
I am not posting this information because I think all drugs are bad. I am posting it becasue people seem to think they are all good except a very rare side effect or two. This is not the case. I am not a religious fanatic about medication but think that many of them are bad. Not all of them...I take them when I really need them but research the hell out of it before.
My MD is and Integrative Medical Doctor and he recommended "Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy" to me in the past.

I think it makes a lot of sense but haven't used it yet.
When I suffer depression I will do lots of things.. exercise, eat right, use breathing techniques...have a little pop or two of rum or a beer.. if my nerves are very frazzled....not too much to drink...
Dr Schneider has offered to prescribe antidepressants but I declined. Instead I took one or two Valium type pills when I really needed it when my father died and I couldn't climb out of a depression....a half at a time...knowing it helped in the past. The depression did pass...finally.-

Hi Carolyn, I was on paxil for a couple of years but I was very sick at the time, and it seemed like as i came out of the ill state i still had a fog around my head, but this also the case for any antidepressant i have been on. I am now on lexipro, Crazy huh!!! I tended to get very agitated on paxil, I am at a loss when it comes to these drugs, i have so many to watch. my sanity is the least of my worries. It has been suggested that marijuana helps with these symptoms for some. For others it has replaced pharm,s completely.

I've had several severe bouts of depression over my lifetime - the last was horrible. After about six months of trying to deal with it on my own, I went to the doc and started meds. I had to try a couple different ones before one worked. They are not all bad. I might not be here, or functioning without them. The sad thing is when docs prescribe them for people who simply need some B vitamins or other ways to deal with stress.
-
When I was on Paxil I had suicidal thoughts and tried to commit suicide a few times.
My best friend committed suicide in 1999 while on Paxil.
Now that I am off it, I am no longer suicidal, but my life is a mess. I can't get life insurance, nor health insurance and I am on disability and have to use Medicare instead of private insurance.-

I am certainly not telling anyone to not do any medications. I am telling you not to trust drug companies or our government (FDA) to tell you the whole story and to research for yourselves on http://www.askapatient.com
I keep seeing that if there is one tiny thing bad about a supplement it is blasted all over the media for everyone to avoid these bad supplements. They are all dangerous..
If people are screaming for us not to take certain drugs on askapatient.com it is not even mentioned in the US Press.. Most people do not know about this resource...wonder why.

Here is an example of people helping people on the site askapatient.com. Here is a post from someone who didn't like the antidepressants and his suggestions that worked for him.
...might not be good for everyone
but BEING INFORMED IS GOOD:
"I tried a lot of antidepressants but they never solved the problem. That is what helped me: neuroscience test (go to neuroscienceinc.com and get information about their test and products), book "Feeling Good" by David Burns (until you find all your silent assumptions (when you read this book, you will understand what I am talking about) which cause you depression you will never get out from it, this book will help to do this. Targeted Ammino Acid Therapy (TAAT), cranial electrotherapy stimulation, deep breathing exercise – 3 times a day (do it when you are anxious and have panic attacks, also while doing it, imagine yourself as you wish you wanted to be), special diet for depression (really helps for mood swings), day light lamp, hot and cold shower, daily exercise, meditation, keeping schedule, acupuncture St. John’s Wort - 9 pills a day, Red clover - 6 pills a day, Omega 3, Calcium, B-complex."-

This is the link to Integrative Medicine clinics that you can just go to and have a consultation for$150 or so for an hour. They can work with you and your meds and supps and suggest options for you. My doctor is an Integrative MD. He graduated Harvard and Columbia ..and took additionally Holistic course work to fill in where needed.
It is being promoted by all the best medical facilities now such as Harvard and many many others.
