The Math Behind "Low Down, Dirty Shame"

A standard keyboard has about 50 keys, so the formula indicates that for each keystroke, a monkey has a 1 in 50 shot at getting the first letter correct. Each subsequent char is just as likely to be typed in succession. Plug in how many characters, how many monkeys, and you end with a number that is mathematically plausible, but that's about it....we can't account for how long a monkey lives, how many chars it can hit per second, do they ultimately learn anything from their forebears, do they pick up where great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandpa left off.

BUT....they will "almost surely" get it eventually. More monkeys = less time.

Here's a little perspective:
Say I want to pick a random sample of 5 numbers. That's the Lottery, here in Texas. 1 in 16 million to pick 5 measly numbers. Yeah right. BUT, someone always seems to win.

I'm playing the odds that if I meet enough people, eventually I'll write some pretty f-ng amazing music for my "million monkey" friends. ~KL
